Rain chances are expected to increase today ahead of an approaching cold front. Showers and scattered thunderstorms, some with potentially heavy rainfall, will cross the area tonight and with the cold front on Thursday. Very windy conditions will develop on Friday. Dry and warm weather return for the weekend into early next week.

Showers likely, mainly before 8am. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with highs near 70. Winds out of the south 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after 2am. Cloudy, with lows in the mid 50s. Winds out of the southeast 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of rain is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday

Nantahala Area

Hazardous weather is not expected today.

Widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms will cross the area Thursday. An isolated severe storm is possible, with damaging winds the main threat. Some of the storms will produce heavy rainfall, and isolated flooding is possible. Very gusty winds are also expected to develop Thursday and continue into Friday. A Wind Advisory may be needed.
