GENERAL OUTLOOK

Very warm and relatively humid weather will continue through Friday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and tonight ahead of a weak cold front, but Thursday looks dry. More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected with another front reaching the area Friday. Much cooler weather returns over the weekend behind that front, with a chance of rain returning by Sunday.

Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorm. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with lows around 52. Nantahala Area

A few strong thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. Strong straight-line winds and hail are the primary threats with the strongest storms. Southwesterly winds will be gusty Wednesday with gusts up to 25 mph possible in most locations and slightly higher in the mountains.
