Suspect in Murder of Pediatric Critical Care Doctor Was Out on Cashless Bail

Bleeding heart liberalism applied to crime has produced a revolving door system of justice. It provides Democrats with opportunities to congratulate themselves for their compassion. This compassion is highly selective, in that it is only bestowed upon those who do not deserve it — not their inevitable victims.

Gateway Pundit presents another example:

A respected pediatric critical-care doctor who dedicated his career to treating gravely ill children was stabbed to death inside his Pennsylvania home early Thursday morning while his own two children were sleeping nearby.

In a sane world, the murder likely would not have happened. Suspect Elijah Hemingway would have been behind bars for felony burglary. But he had been let loose on cashless bail.

Dr. Idris V.R. Evans, 46, served as co-medical director of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and as an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, according to his profile on the University of Pittsburgh.

Colleagues described him as a dedicated caregiver whose work focused on the sickest kids, pediatric sepsis, critical care transport, and keeping children alive when they arrived at the hospital in the worst possible shape.

His good work has been brought to an end. Hemingway allegedly broke in through a window and attacked him and his wife in bed as they slept.

The children [aged 8 and 12] escaped unharmed. Evans died at the hospital. His wife remained in critical but stable condition.

Looks like the killer might get away with it compliments of the insanity defense:

Hemingway was wearing only underwear and reportedly talked about “being God” during the assault.

He can’t play the postpartum depression card like Lindsay Clancy, but maybe he was vaping marijuana.

A glance at Evans and Hemingway will tell you who has the liberal establishment on his side:
