UK Granted Asylum and Citizenship to Former Hamas Chief’s Bodyguard—Now Accused in Foiled Plot to Attack European Jews

Britain gave Mohammed Naim asylum and citizenship; German prosecutors now accuse him of helping prepare attacks on Jewish and Israeli targets in Europe. Reportedly a former bodyguard to Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and the son of Hamas political figure Bassem Naim, he was arrested in London last November on a German warrant. Prosecutors say he took possession of five handguns and ammunition from a suspect in Berlin and stored them in Vienna, where Austrian intelligence seized the cache. Israeli security officials have also pointed to a meeting with his father in Qatar two months before his arrest as a possible sign of approval from Hamas leadership. That last claim remains an intelligence assessment, not a proven finding
