In California, Gavin Newsom signed an executive order banning conventional vehicles by 2035 — which remains state policy despite being tied up in court — because Democrats want to compel the use of inefficient electric cars that will supposedly please their primeval weather gods. Also in California, energy providers have responded to Indian summer weather by telling people to drastically curtail their use of electricity.
The Orange County Register reports that a Flex Alert was issued:
If conditions worsen, additional emergency alerts could be issued, potentially leading to rolling blackouts in the most critical power-shortage situations. …
Power providers urged residents to take steps to conserve electricity during the heat wave.
Suggested steps include not using washing machines, dishwashers, or vacuum cleaners.
[Los Angeles Department of Water and Power] also recommends avoiding the use of stoves and ovens, closing curtains and blinds to reduce sunlight, turning off lights and electrical equipment when not in use and unplugging chargers and appliances that continue to draw power.
Residents can also use cooling centers instead of relying on home air conditioning.
Malicious hyperregulation of the energy industry limits how much electricity can be produced. Let’s hope no one needs to charge an EV.
