NFL Owners Buy Off Player “Protesters” Cheap

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

by Scott Creighton

The NFL owners and players have struck a tenuous deal between the two sides to settle the “kneeling during the anthem” “protests” that have causing serious issues with fans across the country. God forbid someone “disrespect” the glorious flag like that while cops have shot and killed 898 people in the United States in 2017.

The deal is being touted as worth $100,000,000 but it’s not clear if it will reach that goal and it is going to be paid out over the course of 7 years.

The NFL’s multifaceted offer earmarks at least $89 million over a seven-year period for both national and local projects, according to the documents.

So it’s at LEAST $89 million and MAXES out at $100 million.

Got that?

Let’s look at the numbers:

  • $100,000,000 / 32 teams (owners) = $3,125,000 total spread out over 7 years = $446,428 per owner per year on average ($397,321 per year if it’s $89 million)
  • The league minimum for a first-year scrub player (not even a starter) in the NFL is $465,000
  • Derick Carr’s BASE salary for 2017-2018 (one year… 16 weeks) = $25,000,000  (he is currently ranked 14th in passing yards)
  • In 2015 the NFL teams split about 7 billion in revenues giving each team, on average, $226,400,000 in profits.

So what we have here is a little tiny bit of money being handed out to various “not for profits” scams which purport to focus on various social issues that the NFL and Players Coalition (another “not for profit”) claim are important to the African American community.

(Yeah, cuz, fuck poor white people. Cops are always so nice and pleasant to us anyway and I for one know just how the world has been offered to me on a silver platter b/c of the color of my skin)

The loot will be split up this way:

National funding would be allocated accordingly: 25 percent to the United Negro College Fund, 25 percent to Dream Corps and 50 percent to the Players Coalition, which has filed 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) paperwork for nonprofit status as a fiscally sponsored project. This week, the coalition hired the Hopewell Fund to oversee and advise the group, which hopes to work with grassroots and nonprofit organizations in its areas of focus.

Under the proposal, money at both the national and local level would provide grants for nonprofit organizations focused on law enforcement and community relations, criminal justice reform and education reform. ESPN

Let’s break this down a little bit:

The Koch brothers bought up the United Negro College Fund in 2014 for $25 million bucks. Now the NFL owners are going to get their little hooks into it for CHEAP. Let’s see, NFL wouldn’t have any interest in black college students would they? Like perhaps… FOOTBALL PLAYERS perhaps? Gee, I don’t know.

The Dream Corps (yet another “not for profit” brought to you by Van Jones) focuses on 4 major issues:

  • Yes We Code which teaches poor people of COLOR to write code so they can work for Silicon Valley (cus you know, poor white kids are always getting a free ride at MIT)
  • Love Army which is Van Jones’ slush fund doing some kind of work someplace with volunteer kids (aka “useful idiots”)
  • Green for All works on finding “green” jobs for “people of color” (so I guess that isn’t really “for all”)
  • Cut50 seeks to reduce crime rates in various neighborhoods (take a guess as to which ones they focus on)

The college fund gets 25% so they will get about $115,000 a year (how many students will that take care of AFTER administration take their piece of the pie?).

The Dream Corps will also receive about $115,000 per year… which might just pay for Van Jones’ next mortgage (or his airline expenses).

That leaves something called the Players Coalition which is a contrivance from a number of the “thought leaders” from the NFL players who have been protesting (and really only doing it in response to Donald Trump’s comments and NOT since Colin started two years ago… by the way, Colin is STILL being blacklisted by the owners) to get the rest of the hush-money.

And they are getting some help in how to manage their $230,000 per year from something called the Hopewell Fund (who will ultimately get a piece of that as well)

Players are breaking ranks with the so-called “Players Coalition” because, as they say, it’s not very transparent.

Who is this deal supposed to be helping anyway? Underprivileged Americans or… “not for profit” owners? Because it looks to me like by time that “100 million” “trickles down” the corrupt pipe of “not for profit” scams, in the end the poor and unfortunate will be lucky to get a pair of used sneakers out of the deal.

You know, as bad as all of that is, the fact is the worst thing about this “deal” is how in seems to monetize, or put a dollar value, on a protest that was started 2 years ago with the best intentions.

But what do you expect from pampered millionaires who play a game for a living and are treated like Gods everywhere they go? What do you expect from billionaire owners who put a price tag on everything because that’s how they got to be billionaires in the first place?

It’s a sad resolution but an even sadder statement on the status of American principle these days.
