Software to break through China's firewall, sold by police

As the international community and major media started to pay more attention to the importance of the software that breaks through China’s firewall, that was developed by the Global Internet Freedom Consortium (GIFC), users  are spread across China like “a rolling snow ball” .

According to sources inside China, police officers in Guangdong and other areas have started to sell the breakthrough software for profit, and they have become a special channel for promoting the software.

Mr. Chen Xin (pseudonym) mentioned to The Epoch Times newspaper that police officers were aware that by taking advantage of its popularity, it was a good business opportunity for them to make a profit.

When these police officers pretend to be businessmen who sell the software on the street, some people ask them why they dare to sell it and remind them to watch for the police. The officers don’t hesitate to say, “Do you know who I am? I am the police officer in charge of the issue.”

Mr. Chen said that this is not an occasional or random incident. Similar situations can be seen in other cities. With such a special channel for distribution, it may give more people courage to find ways to spread the software. Demand for the breakthrough software by people in China is growing fast.

GIFC endeavours to develop the technology on a long-term basis. It aims to enable users to freely visit the foreign websites blocked by the regime’s firewall. Many Chinese who benefit from using the software have sent messages to thank the Falun Gong practitioners who developed it.

GIFC was established by several leading companies in 2006. GIFC members make significant contributions while promoting free access to network information. Their products and services cover all aspects of network breakthrough blockages. Products such as Dongtaiwang, Ultrareach, Gardennetworks and Global Pass (G pass1) etc. have been simplified so that users can gain immediate access by starting the procedure without changing any setup in the browser. Such simplicity is arrived at only after continuous innovation by the engineers. A request to visit a web page is handled automatically by the products, including automatic searches using the fastest and safest servers as substitutes, encryption websites, contents of web pages and so on.

Currently, G pass1 is available in Chinese and English languages. With more Iranians beginning to use the software, GIFC introduced G pass1 in the Persian language in July 2008.
