How to Buy Good vacuum pumps

There are so many different kinds of vacuums in the market that it can get quite confusing to know which one to pick. To ensure that you make a quality purchase, here is what you need to know about buying these devices. This is whether you are a first time buyer or you have bought a vacuum pump before.

Types

There are 3 main types of vacuum pumps in the market. These include the diaphragm scroll, direct drive and the rotary vane. These devices differ in how they work and they each provide varying levels of vacuum.

The closer you can get to 100% vacuum, the better. The rotary provides 99.9% vacuum, the diaphragm produces 83.5% and the vacuum provides 93.6% vacuum.

One stage or two stage

Any vacuum you buy is either classified as onestage or two stage. Two stage devices have 2 rotors and 2 vanes and therefore end up producing a better vacuum than one stage devices.

Cost

Consider how much you are willing to spend on the devices. There are some cheap pumps and there are some expensive ones. The main difference between the pumps is their quality. Quality devices tend to cost more

The major advantage of quality devices is that in case they develop a problem, you can always take them for fixing and they can always be rebuilt. But with the cheaper models, they might not be of such good quality and you might have a hard time finding spares for those vacuum pumps. This will require that you throw them out and buy a replacement.

If you do not have a lot of funds to spend, you are better off buying used, quality pumps rather than buying cheap imports.

Cubic feet per meter

You need to check how much CFM your vacuum has. A good rating ranges from 1.5 -11. The CFM indicates the flow speed of the vacuum. It is an indicator of how fast you can get out air out of the tank.

Oil plug

It should have a sizable oil plug, so that you can easily drain oil out of it. This will save you a lot of time and hassle.

Vacuum depth

The smaller the vacuum, the slower the flow rate will be and the larger the vacuum, the faster the flow rate. The higher the flow rate the better, otherwise you will have to be waiting for longer periods for the system to pull vacuum.

Sight glass

The sight glass should be easy to read. This will enable you to clearly see where the oil has reached at all times.

Big diameter

The pump should have a big diameter. This will make it easy to fill it up with oil. Therefore, there will be lower chances of you messing up yourself and your surroundings. This can create additional work for you.

Micron rating

The lower this rating is the better.
