The innovation of DGU

Windows as we had known used a single piece of glass on the pane to offer security and for protection from the elements of weather. However, the role of windows has changed with times, and today it contributes to the cause of the environment too.  Windows are responsible for offering better home insulation thereby cutting down on greenhouse emissions, and this has paved the way for innovative window ideas that resulted in the invention of double glazed units.

What is DGU?

DGU, as it is also known, comprises of two glass panes separated from each other by using a spacer thereby creating a void or gap between the two.  Usually, an inert gas like argon fills the space between the glasses. A desiccant like silica gel is used in the cavity to remove any moisture. Besides argon, xenon, other gases like krypton or even air can fill the gap between the gases. The glass assembly is then finished from all sides and mounted on the window frame. Proper sealing of the glass assembly is necessary for which these windows are hermetically sealed that ensures complete and foolproof sealing without any chance of leakage.

DGU glass has excellent properties for acting as heat barrier that prevents heat exchange between the glass surfaces.
