Psychic makes gruesome discovery in search for 6-yr-old Sydney girl, finds torso wrapped in plastic

Syndney, Australia, August 12, 2010 – A psychic told police she had a premonition of the location of the missing 6-year-old girl from Sydney, Kiesha Abrahams, and that her premonition led her to a grassy area where she instead made the gruesome discovery of a woman’s torso wrapped in plastic Wednesday.

Cheryl Carroll-Lagerwey told police she had a gut instinct that took her to a reserve at Doonside in Western Sydney where they believed the child’s body might have been dumped.

Kiesha has been missing 12 days.

When she went to follow up on her premonition at about 6 p.m. Wednesday, she instead discovered a woman’s torso wrapped in thick black plastic that was taped up and dumped in long grass.

Police confirmed the body was missing arms, legs, and a head, and say the torso is not that of the missing girl.

Detective Chief Inspector Pamela Young said police were contacting relatives of Kristi McDougall, a mother of two who has been missing since June 19.

Det. Young said, “Well, it’s quite interesting that there’s a woman and she had a sense or feeling it was worth her while to come to this particular part of the park.”

“We’re still exploring that,” she said, “It’s certainly an interesting proposition of hers.”

Police were struggling with the psychic’s involvement. Young said, ”For those who believe in such things, I understand that the woman thinks that she might have some powers along that [psychic] line … I don’t think it will help if we enter a discussion on that.”

Carroll-Lagerwey said Wednesday that she was at a loss to explain what led her to the shocking discovery other than to say it was an “Aboriginal dream.”

“I can’t explain this,” she said. “I had a dream about a little girl being murdered and that her body was about here.”

For the past 12 days Carroll-Lagerwey and Paul Tearman, another community member, have supported and comforted Kiesha’s mother, Kristi Abrahams, since her child went missing from their Sydney apartment.

When they are not comforting the girl’s family they are out searching the Nurragingy Reserve because their instincts told them Kiesha is there somewhere.

Interestingly twelve other women had the same feeling about the reserve and searched there for six hours last weekend.
