Magic of runes, or Runic Magick – as in case of every magical system, it’s just use of specific magical principles to shape the Universe according to our own will. I came to realize this after few years of exploring mysteries of runes.

How I Realized The Power of Runic Magick

Years ago I became interested in Norse Runes – for unknown reasons, that I can’t figure out for this very day. But I perceived them only as divination tool, because there was no useful book in Poland, that would explore other uses of the Norse symbols. But somewhere deep inside I knew the Norse Runes are more than just divination tool.

That’s when I stumbled upon Edred Thorsson’s book “Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic“. Weird, that I never encountered Galdrs, or runic rites before. But Thorsson’s book opened my eyes, teaching me few things:

I know nothing yet, but I’m still learning – so many years, but I knew so little about Norse Runes. It’s wise lesson for every occult explorer.
Polish book market sucks – because there is no useful book on the subject of the runes here.
Runic magick is just magic of runes – I mean, the principles are very similar to other magical systems, only the terms are different.

Discovery of Thorsson’s book pushed me forward in my exploration of runic magick.

A State of Mind recommends Futhark: A Handbook of Rune Magic by Edred Thorsson, because it’s probably the best paperback guidebook to the mysteries of the Norse Runes.

Exploring Magick

But I was still missing many elements. Thorson’s book provided me with rites: for Opening and Closing ceremony, for protection and cleansing. But there was something missing. Because I was exploring the occult for some time by then, I knew what was it – principles of magical practice. Principles that explained:

Why there’s sacred space required.
Why I should use tools.
Why all these rites need to be vocalized.

And many more. I already had that knowledge, and that’s how I started new period of time in my runic exploration.

The Mysteries of Magic of Runes

So what Runic magic can do? Everything that magic can do:

Opening and Closing rites are very the same in most ceremonial magick practices. And Hammer Rite is closely corresponding to Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (described in the free e-book Paranormal 101, available to all newsletter subscribers).
Sigils can be easily created with letters of the runic alphabet – in the same way as bindrunes are being created.
With classic ritual, and creating specific state of mind, using your intend you can achieve any goal you want – money, love, friendship etc.

I could write more about it, but there’s simpler way to do so – read few books about classic magick – and know that whatever any magical system can do, runic magick can do as well. Because principles are always the same, the only difference lies in terminology. So why should you use runic magick and not, let’s say, rituals of the Golden Dawn? It’s all about your archetype, you know. Some people prefer cold North than modern occultism.

The power that lies in magic of runes is the same power that lies in any magical system.
