Gary McKinnon, British ‘UFO Hacker,’ Fights Extradition to US

From DATELINE ZERO – Gary McKinnon, 44, who suffers from Asperger’s syndrome — an autism disorder that can lead to obsessive behavior — is accused of illegally gaining access to military files.

He’s never denied his unauthorized hacking activities between February 2001 and March 2002. After he was caught in 2002, he was charged with hacking into the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defense Department and NASA computers. He had hacked into nearly 100 military and NASA computers, digging for anything relating to UFO and related information.

In all of his interviews, McKinnon talks about two UFO related finds. He told the Guardian newspaper that he thought what he found was so important that he tried to barter with the government.

When first caught he was offered the chance to take a plea bargain and get a three to four year sentence. He turned the offer down to get a lesser sentence, threatening to release everything he found if they didn’t give him a better deal. Unfortunately for McKinnon, the US government wasn’t too worried about his revelations. Now he faces spending a 70 year sentence in a US prison.

Eight years later, the Scottish systems administrator continues to await the final word on his legal fate.
