(2/2011) America: Give Your Men A Chance To Work

Life without purpose, especially for a man, breeds discontent.

Is it any surprise that we are seeing country after country across the Middle East and North Africa find itself in the throes of crisis?  Certainly not.  At least two or more generations alive today have grown up in poverty, without resources for advancement, but more importantly, without jobs.  Work is tangible.  It provides an income.  Income means a future: wife, children, home, food, and perhaps a car.  Men in the Middle East are considered unacceptable for marriage if they do not have work, a home, and furnishings already in place prior to an engagement.

Today, the majority of the population in the Middle East and North Africa are the youth. (95 million in 2005).  During the last 20 years, that group has experienced oncoming exposure to the rest of the world, traditionally unavailable to them, via satellite/cable television, the internet, and cell phone technologies.  Their eyes, ears, and minds have been opened to lifestyle possibilities which had once been kept from them.  Life lived over a graveyard appears to be no life at all.  Discontent develops.  Strife settles in and hatred toward those with more grows.  And of course, there are political factions which take advantage of the situation.  Only now do the monarchs realize that this reality is not going away.

Unorganized discontent is without rules and laws becoming anarchy.  Innocents are injured.  Troops are called in.  (Bahrain for example, ironically has a police force of foreigners to control its own citizens.)  Order is implemented, which sometimes is much worse than what was previously in place. (This does not excuse the negative and unjust behavior of any government.)

As the world changes, so too does the United States. Joblessness is growing here as well, because our way of life is being deliberately shut down by those who would take advantage of the USA.  Around the world, our country is viewed as wealthy and greedy.  We have maintained colonial like support of dictators abroad. (As we continue to support Egypt, who will be receiving our money now?)

As the United States continues to throw good money after bad, a Robin Hood like scenario is being implemented upon us.  Most of you are completely unaware of what’s happening because you are worried about your own income.  (That’s the plan of the enemy of course.)  Homes are being lost.  Banks are being shut (hundreds). Big companies are closing their doors.  Coming sooner than you think:  towns, cities, states, and then the enemies hope, the USA will cease.

Common Sense: (Think: California, Wisconsin, Michigan, etc..)  No government funding is a sign of loss of tax revenue.  Tax revenue is derived from income.  No income, no tax revenue, no government funds all mean no food stamps and no food.  Food is life.  Work then is life.

(That is the ultimate goal of your enemies.  The United States will be forced under the auspices of the United Nations.

Discontent is already seen in our country.  The “new normal” is our reality.  Those jobs are NOT coming back.  Men and youth without jobs feel hopeless, without purpose, are unable to cope with reality at times.

What to do?

There was a time in the United States when a man’s handshake and name were his honor and integrity.  To sully your name was to be called “Mudd.”  So an effort was made to keep promises made and to keep one’s “nose clean.”  In towns across America, this is how one was known–by at least 3 generations–your parents, your grandparents, and your peers.  And it was the way in which employment was gained and agreements were honored.  (If you marred your name, you could also “start over” with a forgiving relative who remembered what your dad did when he was young, or in a neighboring town, where no one knew you.)

Recently, we taught our kids that their paper trail or electronic trail is what mattered.  That includes licensing (ex. teaching license), driver’s license, credit record, diploma, references, etc..  Marks against one stay for life–a misdemeanor, an arrest for truancy or carrying marijuana, a DUI, an unpaid debt.  These past delinquencies have followed young adults for over 30 years–even though positive change had occurred.  (Is it any wonder that an ex-con without opportunity feels that he cannot change?  Once a criminal, always a felon? Yet there are some who have been able to change with community support.)  Here’s the point: there’s almost no one out there in your community without a mark against him today.  This has affected gainful employment–what little of it there is. 

Discontent is brewing in America as men are without work (millions), without purpose, and feel inadequate.  Most men believe inside of themselves that their purpose in life revolves around a job as a means of financial protection for his family.  So too, our youth must have employment, that which will keep them within their communities.  One day, this discontent will become rage.  What will happen?

All we know is incarceration.  The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world.  Our men will become the convicts: arrested for arguing with the police, vagrancy and homelessness. (One can even be arrested for “trespassing” for not being behind a division barrier at a high school sports competition.  Ridiculous.)  And is it any wonder that California’s train to nowhere is really going somewhere?  The first “leg” of the project includes a town which has a prison.  How ironic.

I’ve asked men to go back to work in their own communities–perhaps doing work they’d never have considered doing. America, I’m asking you to give people, especially men a second opportunity. Look a man in the face, look into his eyes–is he honest?  Will he shake hands?  Offer him a job.  He’s a man in need. 

That man is a building contractor, a realtor, a Wall Street executive, a postal clerk, a company man, a teacher, a guidance counselor, a Louisiana fisherman, a bank president, a book store employee, a librarian, etc…  Those jobs aren’t coming back.  These men are desperately needing employment.  To ask for work after a lifetime of gainful employment is humbling.  As an employer, be fair, be honest, be encouraging. You may even need to teach these men what to do. That’s OK.  They’re smart and learn quickly.

If you can (ranchers, farmers, etc…) give the man a place to sleep and a hot meal daily.  This man is also someone’s son.  He could be your son one day. And a man who has a job can help to keep his family in their home which means fewer homeless families.

This is one way in which we can help each other in the United States.  (Homeless shelters and religious institutions need to get their doors completely open–for women and children.)

The world’s financial playing field is quickly becoming flat.  No longer is life about the making of money, it is about survival.  NO ONE will survive alone, in isolation.  God asks us not to lord it over others, but rather expect that each man be happy with his own wages. We will ALL need the assistance of others.  That man to whom you gave employment, will probably become a great ally, helping you protect your property.  He will have a vested interest in keeping it safe.

Though men feel a need to protect a family as their primary purpose, we are all called to the planet at this time for an individual purpose as well.  Some folks search and search for the answer.  But it is really quite simple–God asks us to help others.  Each small thing you do or say affects others.  As these minor kindnesses occur, they coalesce into a wave–a tidal wave of change.  “Retain the Spirit to do good; it is the Father’s Living Will.”

Americans, you are alive now.  Do what you must to help yourselves, peacefully.  Take back your country by going to work on small farms, ranches, in your own communities.  Create a job for yourself even.  Listen to the immigrants and your elders.  They are the remnants of times past who know what it takes to survive.  The time to act is now–YOU are the GREATEST generation which has ever lived–YOU WILL SURVIVE.  GOD has said so.  But you must wake up and face reality!

The Way Out of death is provided by God to all who would listen.  Hunger and famine are coming to every country on Earth.  NOW is the time when all people, no matter the faith or race or nationality, must recognize that we are from God and that His Law is Love.  We are instructed to love each other, as God loves us.
