America's Most Haunted Houses

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

According to and By Zillowblog

It’s not Halloween without a spooky series of homeowner horror stories. Nor is it Halloween without a look at the best places to trick-or-treat. But it’s really not the ghostly holiday of “all saints eve” without taking a tour of some of America’s most famously haunted homes.

McPike Manion Alton, IL.

1. Winchester Mystery House  San Jose, CA
2. Lizzie Borden House   Fall River, MA
3. LaLaurie Mansion  New Orleans, LA
4.  Franklin Castle Cleveland, OH
5.  Sprague Manion Cranston, RI
6.  Myrtles Planation St. Francisville, LA
7.  Chambers Mansion San Francisco, CA
8.  Whaley House San Diego, CA
9.  McPike Mansion Alton, IL.
10.  The Victorian  Gardner, MA

This is a pretty decent list.  Many of these places are on many top 10 lists such as the Winchester, The Myrtles and the Whaley House.  Some deserve to be on more top 10 lists like the McPike Manion and Franklin Castle.  While others are completely new.  For more detail go to the link above.

Its something that will always be different and debated haunted top 10 lists.  Things are always changing.  -Mort

Cool list! New England is full of haunted places/land due to the Indian massacres.

Then there is the Villisca Axe Murder House in Villisca Iowa…. The haunting’s stem from the event of June 1912 when eight people were hacked to death in what is still Iowa’s largest unsolved mass homicide. Reported phenomena include orbs, ghostly voices, and shadowy apparitions. This video offers a look at Iowa’s most haunted house…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDNTh0xeIAk
