Nigeria Supposedly Has Shapeshifters, Says Boys are Turning Into Cats

NIGERIA — Police in the city of Port Harcourt claim three boys have the ability to become cats at will.

 

The incident reportedly began when the officers became curious about a cat roaming the police station and decided to capture it.

 
But when for some reason they tried to kill it, the cat “mysteriously transformed into a boy”, the men said.

 

The boy allegedly confessed that he and many others “of his kind” are capable of metamorphosing into felines with the sole purpose of “sucking human blood and and inflict their victims with diseases”.

 

According to John, he learned the “art” from a man named Womadi.
 

Eze Ndubueze Wobo, ruler of the region, said that he had spoken with one of the alleged mentors who had confessed to him that the entire story was true. He was also told that these men recruit schoolchildren and then use items such as native alligator pepper, Local gin, Local kola nut, and packaged beef roll in order to initiate them.

 

Port Harcourt is the capital of Rivers State in Nigeria and has a population of 1,382,592.
Shapeshifting is the purported ability of a living thing to physically transform into another being, and it is present in works such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Illiad. The belief is also in existence in many cultures around the world, like the Native American skin-walker and similar creatures documented in African Shamanism.

 

The most popular form of shapeshifting is called therianthropy, which allows a human being to transform into an animal and vice versa.

 

Last month, members of the Boko Haram terrorist organization, also in Nigeria, claimed to being attacked by the ghosts of their victims, who had ‘possessed the bodies of snakes and bees’.
