Before, I didn’t believe this guy, but after reading about a missing hunter in a large outdoor reputable magazine I think he is on to something, but still a little overblown.
It is very easy to get lost, it is very easy to fall in bushes, well-covered ditches, holes, burrows, unseen drop-offs, cliffs, etc., not to mention animal attacks or people desiring suicide by forest.
Paulides covers all of the obvious reasons for disappearance in his books. People who disappear: there’s NO BLOODY MESS (no animal attack) , clothing has been found FOLDED and placed into a neat pile, a belt was rolled up, there are missing shoes, and if they have cell phones, most of the time, they’re turned off. Kids normally have scratches all over like they’ve been dragged through brush. One of the biggest indicators is that dogs won’t track or can’t find a scent even when taken to the last known location.
As Paulides says, it doesn’t appear to be just one thing that’s happening to all these people. I’ve read all his books and I tend to agree. Something is going on and it’s bad. Really bad.
