Imagine this: the world as we know it is destroyed via nuclear war—perhaps an asteroid or some other form of holocaust—and we essentially are set back to another Stone Age. Roughly 1000-2000 years into the future (provided we’re not extinct by then); the priest caste of the future era—in their vainglorious efforts to make sense of the past and the ruinous remains of our cities and skyscrapers—construct a pantheon of ‘gods and goddesses’ out of Congress, decreeing an a$$-clown like Biden or Trump as being the “Father of the Gods”. I really don’t find it too far-fetched to consider this might be what happened in our ancient past. The survivors of an extinction-level event back then likely looked at the pyramids and other megalithic structures that endured in the generations following aftermath ‘said’ apocalyptic event with awe and wonder, and came to see those ruling during the times predating that event as ‘gods’ as well.
