An eclipse is a good time to do a third grade experiment that exposes the size of the moon. Place a strong flashlight on a table pointed at a wall. Now place something like a dinner plate or similar object in your hand, casting a shadow on the wall. Walk back and forth and you will see that the shadow is never smaller than the object in your hand. It can be bigger, depending on the distant and angle but the shadow will never be smaller than the object.
Now watch how wide the shadow on April 8. It’s usually about 70 miles wide showing that the moon can be no wider than 70 miles and probably even smaller yet NASA claims that the moon is over 2000 miles wide.
