Eloise Asylum is located at Westland, Michigan. Paranormal enthusiasts claim that Eloise Asylum, is one of the most haunted locations in Michigan. Paranormal investigators, visitors, and people associated with the property have described unexplained experiences there. People have made claim that they have been touched, been grabbed and have been whistled at, especially the female paranormal investigators that have investigated the site. Some people even claim that they have found handprints on their clothing.
HISTORY OF ELOISE ASYLUM (FROM WIKIPEDIA)
“The Wayne County Poor House was founded in 1832. It was located at Gratiot and Mt. Elliott Avenues in Hamtramck Township, two miles from the Detroit city limits. By 1834 the poorhouse was in bad condition and 280 acres (110 ha) in Nankin Township were purchased. The Black Horse Tavern, which served as a stagecoach stop between Detroit and Chicago, was located on the property. In those days it was a two-day stagecoach ride from Hamtramck Township to Nankin Township. The register shows that on April 11, 1839, 35 people were transferred from the poorhouse in Hamtramck Township to the new one in Nankin Township. One hundred eleven apparently refused to go to the “awful wilderness.” Many were children, and homes among the residents of the city may have been found for them.[1] The log cabin, which was formerly the Black Horse Tavern, became the keeper’s quarters, and in 1839 an A-frame building was put up to house the inmates — more appropriately termed, by today’s standards, patients. An A-frame cookhouse was erected in the back of the log building and was used for cooking by the inmates, the staff and the keeper’s family. Inventor Elijah McCoy may be its most famous former resident. He spent a year prior to his death as a patient in the Eloise Infirmary. There were other well-known people who died at Eloise including several baseball players, among them Jul Kustus, Larry LeJeune, Charlie Krause and Marty Kavanagh. Musician Horace Flinders was also a patient and received music therapy.” END OF WIKIPEDIA / SPECIAL NOTE: Over 7,000 people are buried at the Eloise Asylum Cemetery.
Visitors, paranormal investigators, staff have reported seeing shadow people and full body apparitions walking around. Some of the apparitions appear to be floating a few inches off the ground. Many ghostly sightings happen inside the building.
People have mentioned hearing disembodied whispers. The whispers sometimes sound like the voice is ear shot close, which can be very frightening. Then there are the whistles and unexplained footsteps. The whistles have sometimes been cat call whistles directed at female paranormal investigators. An independent female ghost hunter named Charlene Hansen heard the cat call whistle that she felt was directed to her, and a minute later got pinched in the rear. She made the comment: “I was sexually harassed by a ghost!” Some investigators say they have felt tingly touches or phantom grabs. Some paranormal investigators took note of unusual readings on electromagnetic field (EMF) meters. With all the wiring in this building, the EMF readings could almost be anything. These readings would not be noted as “paranormal”. A psychic medium named Dedra claims she saw the full body apparitions of a possible doctor injecting a sharp device into the eye of a patient. A possible lobotomy? The sighting only lasted seconds.
MORTUARY MANOR
TOLEDO, OHIO
Mortuary Manor is a historic 128-to-136-year-old Victorian-era building (formerly Urbanski Funeral Home, operating from 1889 to 2025). It is reported that Mortuary Manor in Toledo, Ohio is a haunted Ohio legend that has a reputation of being a very haunted location. The manor is located at 2907 Lagrange Street in North Toledo. Some of the activity that has been documented is a casket elevator moving by itself. This has been witnessed many times by several people. Paranormal teams have reported unusual audio, including sounds interpreted as voices in areas where no speaker was apparent. Investigators have also described unexplained noises like tapping on the walls, strange rumblings, disembodied voices in the basement preparation rooms. There have been reports of an odd smiling white face that will peek at you and when you notice the face, it will hide. Janice Longtree from Phoenix, Arizona encountered the “white faced ghoul”. Janice described the face as looking like a “ghoul”. Janice says she was freaked out from the sighting and just talking about it, it gave her goosebumps. Visitors and investigators have described shadow-like figures seen with their peripheral vision. Cold spots are frequently felt. One person claims that they felt a cold spot and it went away, they felt a rush of cold air go through them.
Staff have reportedly described a phlebotomy machine switching on by itself. A paranormal investigation team, Macomb Paranormal Investigation and Research, also documented the phlebotomy machine switching on during an overnight investigation at the property on May 8, 2026. Many ghost-hunting groups gravitate to this manor and make claim that you will not be disappointed, that you will find paranormal activity at this Mortuary Manor. Louie Monroe of Specter Seekers of Stockton says: “With as many dead people that have been to this manor, it would only make sense that it was haunted. Not a surprise.”
