City Settles Cop's Lawsuit For $300,000: Cop Claims Police Chief Filed Bogus Disciplinary Charges

Civil rights lawsuits by police officers and citizens are costing cities and towns big bucks.  One town in Rhode Island just coughed up $300K to settle a lawsuit filed by one of its officers.  The officer claimed he was wrongly written up, and that he was actually the victim  of a vendetta,

According to area media:

 The town of Cranston has reached a $300,000 settlement with a police main who filed a federal civil rights lawsuit saying he was the goal of a vendetta and harassment marketing campaign by the previous police chief. SOURCE

From big cities to small towns, American taxpayers are footing the bill for police gone rogue. When an officer or department is sued for police brutality or an in-custody death, the municipality is the one to pay up. And it’s costing taxpayers millions.

Pore ole broke, mismanaged Detroit had to pass a one tine tax to pay for lawsuits against its police department:  There is no incentive for wayward cops to change their ways, because the oney doesn’t come out of their pay or budgets.  Once again, the citizens get stuck with the bill.
