There is a long withstanding strange & very unnatural position that plagues both the right & the left.  Both the liberal & the conservative.  It’s a position I cannot understand or sympathize with.  It’s a position where one will take the side of Government over something else, just because that something else is negative, has some level of extremeness, is unknown to the person, or is against another part of their personal beliefs.

It is usually ironic, as well as rather annoying to anyone who is after the truth.  The term “conspiracy theorist” is usually hurled in defense of the Government, regardless or sometimes with regard to the pertinence of left/right application.  THAT is the weird part to me.  Here’s why:

At times that the Government is mostly controlled by the right, the left will believe more conspiracy theories about the right just for the sake that it portrays the right in a way that serves their interests.  Not because the conspiracy seems true to them.  In fact, I often wonder if they heard a word that was said about the conspiracy, as said conspiracy usually continues once the right is no longer in power & the left takes its place.  It is at this point that citizens on the left who once seemed to believe previously stated conspiracy will then HURL themselves in the defense of the Government, while maintaining a personal understanding of what’s happening in Government that is akin to driving 100mph in a fog so thick you can’t even see half a car length in front of yourself.

At first, MOST people believe this is a liberal or left trait alone.  It is not.  It happens on all sides.  Those on the right will believe their “guys” are generally good & couldn’t be a part of any kind of conspiracy.  (Reminder:  conspiracy is simply a group of people planning to do something illegal.  I will also remind you that nobody in Government is ACTUALLY above the law.  Even though they think so, & even though the police treat them as such).  I’ve met a great many “conservatives” who will do the same as I previously stated about liberals defending Government, as long as it’s a Government where they believe “their side” is in power.

Both will believe the Government is corrupt & needs to be fixed, yet forget about any of that once “their side” is back in power.  Meanwhile, horrible things ensue.

What makes this worse is when you have evidence that makes sense of the conspiracy & actually shows that the conspiracy is most likely the case.  But part of the reason each side invests so much belief that a conspiracy cannot be the truth can almost be narrowed down to two separate beliefs.  For the left, it’s the belief that their “guys” care about the people & above all want the best life for people.  A humanitarian stance.  This is false.  For the right, it’s the belief that their “guys” care about the Constitution & above all want a strict adherence to the rules therein because it is the most responsible & accountable stance that all politicians & citizens should have.  This is false.  Though it would be great if they actually DID adhere to the Constitution, they hardly ever do that.  To give one example:  the Patriot Act.  (Though the Patriot Act can be attributed to be the fault of both sides).

So how do the free thinkers, the skeptics, the truth seekers deal with these people?  Do we cite examples?  Hit them with logical & detailed explanations that show Government failures occur & their effect actually empowers the Government MORE… & that maybe that was the point all along?  This always fails.  The leftist will just say, “no, you’re wrong & you don’t have a heart.  They’re trying to help people.  Don’t you care?”  Even though all their attempts fail at helping people, & instead grant more power to the Government.  The rightist will say, “Oh, you just don’t like responsibility.  You just say it’s a conspiracy instead of realizing that you’ve got to own up to reality.”  Even though they refuse to see how consistently their “guys” vote & pass unconstitutional things like it’s going out of style.
