Why EVERYONE Should Care about Monsanto

As I have become an Anarchist, I’ve been confronted with a LOT of arguments against myself (which, is nothing out of the ordinary).  But regarding Monsanto in particular, I’ve been perplexed by Libertarians who are actually ‘PRO-Monsanto,’ in the sense that they believe the solution to dealing with Monsanto is by leaving them alone…. in a NOWHERE NEAR Free-Market society, because that promotes Free-Market practice (‘that’ meaning leaving them alone=no regulation=Government shouldn’t regulate business in a Free-Market…. all of this ignores the fact that we don’t have a Free-Market).

To this I say:  You’re NOT setting a very good example!  You’re starting your example of how “free markets work best” by letting Monsanto…. A corporation who’s gotten their own personnel imbedded into government to promote their agenda…. to go ahead & continue on with their monopoly tactics while you fantasize that tiny injections of Free-Market ideas will have any effect on a corporatist/fascist based economy & government.  I’m afraid you are delusional.

First off, I agree with you (the Libertarian) that a 100% free-market is best, however you wont achieve it by attempting to place little teeny tiny bits of free-market ideas into a system that thrives already off of lies, despotism, & social manipulation.  So, pardon me for saying, but leaving Monsanto alone won’t stop them.  It also won’t stop the revolving door of politicians who were Monsanto executives & lawyers before becoming a politician.  Then legislating in ways that assist Monsanto at every step & trample any semblance of free-market economics whatsoever.

Libertarians seem to want to ignore Monsanto‘s creation of food-stuff that is likely to kill people (we don’t have all the data on what their food will do.  A lot of that research is still coming to light.  But the lab rats that they test usually get cancerous tumors from GMO).  It’s true that if we had 100% free-market economics from the start there wouldn’t be any monopolies.  (I personally think that would only be possible if we practiced Anarchy)  But the reality of our situation is that Monsanto is already a monopoly & is already controlling large parts of our government.  This is a much larger problem than protesting in favor of labels on GMO food.

To believers in all various parts of the political spectrum, here’s the deal with labeling GMO food:  it’s pointless.  Because, once it’s labeled, nobody is going to eat it.  Or at least, they’d try their damnedest to stay away from it.  This would essentially put Monsanto out of business.  But I don’t think it would even get that far.  But lets say it does get that far.  A large part of the population would probably be shocked to see how many things they already have been eating are Monsanto GMO.  You’re thinking “Well, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?”  Yes, but it’s still pointless.  Protesting isn’t pointless.  But labeling is.  Because by the time you get enough people trying to get Monsanto to label their GMO foods, you’ll eventually get people to realize that Monsanto is not only a monopoly, but that they have a wealth of politicians who are specifically acting on Monsanto’s behalf.  Monsanto will thus be exposed.  In doing so, people would have to agree, Monsanto needs to be completely shut down.  Not dissolved like Standard Oil was.  Destroyed completely.  This isn’t free-market economics, but monopolies aren’t supposed to happen in free-market economics.  So before we get free-market economics into practice, we’ll of course need to first rid our government of monopolies, or else these big corporations may as well declare themselves to be the government (since it’s almost like that as it is).
