Copy of a letter to the UN Secretary General

I am writing this letter to you via electronic mail in order to seek some form of justice and relief for Christians who are being murdered for their faith in countries throughout the world. I am also similarly concerned about the plight of Jews who are in a similar state of persecution. Due to the fact that no national governmental or international justice organization seems to be taking these issues seriously, and are only making token efforts to address the issues, this letter is composed out of desperation.
 

Sir, the International Community has a mandate to address these issues. As a matter of fact, it could be argued that the formation of the United Nations was a direct response to the horrors of the Holocaust; and the best hope of that generation that a response could be found that would prevent the murder of innocent people who are targeted for extermination by the tyrants of the future.
 

Sir, the tyrants the previous generation feared are now here. The people these tyrants are targeting for extermination are are also  real. Although it would benefit some people politically to turn a blind eye, its wrong to deny the innocent victims the justice they deserve. It is also wrong to continue to deny a problem exists and allow more innocent people to die from persecution. 

Last year, between 100,000 to 200,000 Christians were murdered for their faith across the world. A larger number of Christians were also subjected to serious crimes. I’m not going to bother breaking these statistics down along denominational lines, because it doesn’t matter if they were a Protestant or a Catholic. They were all human beings.They lived, they loved, and they died from persecution. 

Similarly, innocent Jews in Israel, or similarly innocent Jews residing in other nations across the world have also been victimized and murdered because of their faith. They were human beings; they did nothing to deserve their death except to be born into a culture that has been subjected to hatred for centuries.

Sir, it appears that a modern day Holocaust is not just some remote theory perpetuated by crackpot conspiracy theorists; instead it seems to be actually occurring as I write this. Incredibly, no one individual in a position of leadership seems to be willing to confront this issue in a decisive manner. Whether that’s due to a lack of courage on their part, political expediency, or some other excuse, I have no way of knowing. All I do know is nothing is being done, and precious human lives are being wasted due to a lack of positive moral leadership at all levels. That’s why I am writing this letter to you. As man who has experienced war, injustice, and the horrors that come with it, you share an understanding of human nature that I believe gives you the insight and courage to take decisive action to save the lives of others. 

I implore you to use your position as the Secretary General of the United Nations to use whatever means you have available to bring a decisive end to this horrific slaughter of innocent human beings, and bring the perpetrators of these atrocities to justice.
