Opinion | Graham a No Show! Where is Joe Wilson?

South Carolinians around the state are attending many town halls as Congress has recessed for August to return home and talk to their constituents, but some of their elected officials are missing and cannot be found.

While Republican delegation members Senator Tim Scott, Congressmen Mulvaney, Gowdy, and Duncan are holding town hall events during the recess there are two who have been missing from any public forum where questions might be asked.
Senator Graham and Congressman Joe Wilson are mysteriously missing and have no town halls planned. Everyone who is paying the slightest bit of attention knows Lindsey Graham is overseas meeting with the Muslim brotherhood and beating the drums of war, but what about Joe Wilson?

Where is old Joe?

Joe Wilson is a little known congressman. His only claim to fame is his outburst during president Obama’s State of the Union address when he famously yelled “you lie” but besides that Mr. Wilson is the invisible man only popping up whenever there is a veteran to pat on the back.

Could there be something in common between the missing Graham and Wilson? What is the reason neither of them is having town halls?

Could it be they are afraid they might get an earful from constituents who are angry over the actions each has taken over the past decade?

Most politically aware South Carolinian’s are fully aware of Senator Graham’s votes for the Patriot Act, TARP, NDAA, Undeclared wars, arming rebels, debt ceiling raises, Supreme Court nominees, and many others but are unaware that Joe Wilson has an almost identical record in the House. In fact his positions are so close as to make them hard to distinguish between the two.

 A few examples may be in order:

 Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson voted for the Patriot Act.

Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson voted in favor of two undeclared (unconstitutional) wars in Afganistan and Irag.

 Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson Voted to raise the debt ceiling and massive budget increases throughout the Bush years increasing the size and scope of government.

 Lindsey Graham and Joe Wilson voted in favor of the indefinite detention of Americans in the NDAA.

What we don’t know about Joe Wilson:

What is his position on immigration, NSA spying, Arming Syrian rebels, and stopping Obamacare.
 

Why don’t we know?

Joe Wilson will not face the people and answer those and other questions the people want to ask.  

Joe “you lie” Wilson was first elected to Congress in 2000 and was sworn in January of 2001 just in time to vote for the unpatriotic Patriot act. His votes ever since have been contrary to his own biography on his website which states:

“While serving the Second Congressional District of South Carolina, Joe is committed to promoting peace through a strong national defense, decreasing taxes for all Americans, and limiting the size of the federal government. “

Joe has accomplished one thing on his list, increased military spending, as for the rest he has been an utter failure.

Taxes are higher and the size of government has grown in part with his help.

If one wants to know how Joe may vote they could first look at Senator Graham’s position on the issue and rest assured Joe Wilson is tagging along quietly under the radar.

While South Carolina and the country focus on the defeat and retirement of Senator Lindsey Graham there are a few who understand that it is Graham’s twin, Joe “you lie” Wilson, who must go with him.
