Chicago, IL—Gun owners everywhere are proud of their better firearms. So much so that it’s common to want to be photographed with them.Of course you may be tempted to have even more fun with a video perhaps saying something really inappropriate.
Then there are those pictures or video that might emulate our favorite film character like Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry.
The poses with the guns come with lots of silly facial expressions from grinning to looking tough or mean.
Thoughtless images could wind up as evidence against you in court if you ever have to use a gun in a legitimate act of self-defense. Prosecutors love forcing people that used deadly force in self-defense to trial. They want a jury to decide if the shooting was justifiable.
Should you get arrested the media will search the Internet for your images in Social Media. If they find some of your gun related material they will display them as they report your arrest.
Imagine a similar “selfie” like I shot above to illustrate what I’m talking about being used against you?Wow, what an impression that would make on anyone sitting in judgment of you!
If you find yourself in either a criminal or civil trial in relation to a shooting prosecutors and civil lawyers will constantly show your gun images to a jury.
Even if you never upload that material to the Internet cops may find them should they serve a search warrant on your home after a shooting.
Of course your lawyer would object to such a display.Unless the lawyer is able to show the material is out of context the jury will see it all.
I will leave you with thoughts of the volatile George Zimmerman case where Trayvon Martin was justifiably killed.Had there been any pictures like that the media and prosecutors would have made those images very famous.
