Ostracizing and Shunning Killer Cops

Justice for the victims of murderous police will never be found in government courts. Every once in a while a victim will be compensated, but a large majority of the time the police involved are given paid time off, acquitted, or simply not charged with anything, their police chiefs protecting his gang at all costs.

I have always felt that social ostracism was and is an incredibly underrated aspect of regulating social behavior and enforcing societal norms. Think about it. The last time you went to a restaurant or took a cab, did anyone force you to leave a tip? Think about how many of our actions (or inactions) are a result of what both our peers and strangers might do or say.

Now witness this great Reason story. The despicable thug who helped beat an unarmed and helpless homeless man to death with the help of his brave, brave friends in blue (caught on video and STILL acquitted) was asked to leave a Southern California Denny’s after several patrons recognized the offer and wanted him to leave.

What a fantastic example of the power of ostracism! I hope this idea spreads and spreads. Restaurants, cafes, shops, and gas stations all refusing to serve police officers or other government bureaucrats would go a long way in forcing them to look in the mirror, atone for what they are doing, and maybe go out and get a real job.
