Corporations Are Welfare Whores

On average, each Fortune 100 company received about $200 million in taxpayer subsidies. Entire industries of soulless, mega-corporations exist solely because of government contracts rather than providing a service in the market at a price individuals are willing to trade for. Pleasing customers is hard; joining hands with the state to loot the public at the barrel of a gun is much, much easier.

One of the biggest myths about the welfare state is that noble, benevolent government takes from the rich to give to the poor as “social justice.” Nothing could be further from the truth. The welfare state always benefits the rich, powerful and politically-connected.

The Federal Reserve system, bailouts, subsidies, occupational licensing, regulations; these are all programs that deliberately and stealthily steal from the masses to profit the few and protect from what that great corporatist Henry Ford called “the anarchy of production.”

This is why the status quo would rather watch the world burn than see a free society and a free market, and why we must keep fighting harder and harder every day for both.
