“Las Vegas Chosen as Site for 2016 Constitution Party National Presidential Nominating Convention

“Janine Hansen of Elko and Richard Engel of Las Vegas attended the National Committee Meeting of the Constitutional Party in Memphis Tennessee this weekend, April 25 and 26.  The IAP is the Nevada state affiliate of the Constitution Party.

“A most exciting and unexpected event occurred on Friday afternoon at the Executive Committee Meeting.  Janine, as the Western States Chairman, left the Executive Committee meeting to present her workshop to the general meeting on Petitioning for Ballot Access and the Importance of Candidates for Building the Party.

“While Janine was giving her workshop, the Executive Committee discussed the location of the next National Presidential Nominating Convention for 2016.  No national Convention has been held in the West since the 1996 Convention in San Diego California. Los Angeles and Las Vegas were both suggested. Jim Hemmings, national Treasurer from Tennessee, proposed that the National Presidential Nominating Convention be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Spring of 2016, and the Executive Committee voted in favor of Las Vegas.

“The next day, before the vote by the National Committee, Janine called John Wagner, Nevada State Chairman, who said not only was he in favor of having the Convention in Las Vegas, but that he was thrilled.

“On Saturday, the National Committee voted in favor of Las Vegas as the location of the National Convention for the Constitution Party in 2016.  Wow! What a wonderful surprise!

“The Nevada Independent American Party has the most candidates and the most registered voters by far of any other state affiliate.  The Constitution Party has 14 states ballot qualified and is working hard to have 6-10 more qualified this year in preparation for the 2016 election.  In past years during presidential years we have qualified for as many as 41 states and expect to achieve that number by 2016.”
