'Civil Forfeiture' and the American Police State
You gotta love the language of statism. It conceals, never clarifies, masking the manipulation with official sounding words and legalese. If, say, there were people going around the country stealing people’s property even if they have never been convicted of a crime, intimidating the victims, and using that stolen property to buy more equipment in order to steal more property, we might call these people armed gangs committing theft, fraud, and aggression against the innocent.
But when it’s the state committing these acts? Nope. They are law-enforcement officials engaging in civil forfeiture.
