Don’t Blame Christianity For Islam’s Violence
For the past several posts, most of my attention has been focused on Islam and the evil and violence that accompanies it wherever it migrates. It doesn’t matter if it is England or America, violence seems to follow along. I shared a post on Facebook this morning that shows exactly that. My good friend Charles Phipps at OK Politechs lays out the case perfectly, describing how Islam in his post, Islam: The Evil Invading America. Since I have shared that post, I have been in a discussion with someone on Facebook about my fears. Their first comment on the post went something like this.
What about the evil in the bible?
I responded by pointing out the difference between what took place in the Old and New Testaments and I was then asked if I would like to see a list of Christian atrocities. When I explained that Islam was breeding violence in today’s world, not Christianity, I was informed I shouldn’t throw stones because I lived in a glass house.
I realize that not everyone who reads Political Realities is a Christian. I don’t have a problem with that, as the blog is not centered around my faith. Even if it was, anyone who was interested in what I have to say would be welcome to read my rantings. My question to the Christians who do read this blog, as well as to anyone else who would care to chime it, why does everything that is wrong with the world today have to be laid at the feet of Christianity?
To elaborate further, just because there was violence associated with the Christian crusades, as well as other events in the past, does not absolve Islamic terrorists from the acts of violence they are so fond of wreaking. Just because the Biblical Old Testament tells us of the violence associated with the Jewish nation after they left Egypt, doesn’t mean that is all Christianity is about. The New Testament changed that. At the risk of being redundant, that does not absolve the terrorist madmen who are running around killing people in the name of Allah and Islam.
In other words, the terror and violence we are witnessing, all in the name of the religion of peace, has nothing to do with Christianity. It is not our fault Muslims believe how they believe. It is not our fault that they believe they have carte blanche to maim and kill in the name of their religion. It is not Christianity’s fault that they do this and I am tired of our faith having to defend itself because so many people want to use Christianity as an excuse for someone else’s bad behavior. Is that too much to ask?
Those who would defend Islam and its violence are fond of pointing out the faults of Christianity, as if those faults give Muslims an excuse to commit violence. The next time you hear someone doing that, politely point out that not everything is Christianity’s fault. Of course, if they are a liberal, you will probably be wasting your breath. Liberals love to point the finger of blame at someone else for the things they are doing themselves. That’s what they are doing when they attack Christianity, in order to defend their new best friend, Islam. I just wonder what they will do when Islam turns their attention to them?
