Crow, sometimes truth sucks. Wages are largely determined by the available labor pool.
Let’s say I own a fast food joint and put out a help wanted sign. I then get no applicants. Eventually, I have to go to other fast food joints and try to lure away their employees. They will have no desire to leave their current employer for less money than they are currently making.
Now turn this around and say that I have 20 applicants after posting that I need help. With that much available labor, I can pay no more than minimum wage. If I choose to hire someone who is in the country illegally—an illegal alien as opposed to an “undocumented worker” I can pay them less than minimum wage.
I am always puzzled by the stupidity of most Dimocrats who support unchecked immigration. Unchecked immigration only benefits big business (and some smaller businesses too). If we removed everyone who is illegally in the U.S. we would be not only at full employment, but be at a slight labor shortage, which would drive up base wages. In the long term, wealso need to cut the world wide population by 5 billion or so……….to the showers with them all!!!
