President Obama – We Do Not Want Stay At Home Moms

There are times when politicians finally let the public in on how they feel about the issues facing America. Most of them try to keep their cards close to their chest, simply because the aforementioned public may not be so enamored with them, once they learn how they really feel. Such is the case with President Obama. He likes to go around, declaring how the Republican Party is waging a war on women. He had a lot of help hammering that lie home in 2012 and they managed to convince more than a few women that his opponents wanted to keep them all barefoot and pregnant. Take a couple of minutes to watch the clip and we’ll pick up on the other side.

Let me go on record as saying how much I disagree with what President Obama is saying. Before the resident liberals get themselves all worked up about me not wanting quality preschool education for every child, that’s not what I said. I am also not against women going to work when they have children that are not in school. Some women have no choice but to do so, due to their circumstances. Some people reading this will know exactly what I mean.

What President Obama is trying to do is link an alleged lack of quality preschool programs to moms having to stay at home to make sure their children are properly taken care of, guided and directed in their early childhood years. He is trying to draw a connecting line between that alleged lack and the mantra that women do not make as much as men. Am I reaching on this? I think not. And what troubles me most of all is his dismissive attitude toward the women who chose to stay at home with their children. I have a real problem with that.

Let me tell you a story about a woman I know very well. I’ve been married to her for 25 years and she is the kind of woman who chose the higher calling and stayed at home with our daughters. Yes, I described it as a higher calling. I do not dismiss any woman who either chooses to work, or has no choice but to work, but there is no higher calling than that of a mother. A higher calling simply does not exist.

My wife nurtured and guided our daughters from the beginning. She taught them how to read and write, working with them when they didn’t want to work with her. Children can and will be cantankerous with their school work, as any parent or teacher knows. But, she continued with her endeavors, even through high school. She home schooled them all the way, not only teaching them their school lessons, but also teaching them right from wrong. She instilled in them her values and principles and if I may say so, they are better women because of having that relationship with their mother.

Again, I do not disparage any mother who either chooses to work, or has no choice but to work, but I stand by my statement. Being a mother is the highest calling that exists. Choosing to stay at home with their children is not an easy task. My wife will tell you it was extremely hard, at times and any mother will probably tell you the same thing. That does not mean it isn’t worth the time, effort, and hardship it takes to do the job.

The next time you hear a liberal spout off about how the Republicans are waging a war on women, point them to this clip of President Obama. Remind them of who is waging the real war on women by expressing such disdain towards women who choose to follow the higher calling of staying at home with their children. As the image at the top of this post expresses, we might be surprised at how high the value of a stay at home mom really is.
