What’s worse is that the gruesome punishment took place even as the Italian foreign minister is in Tehran today for business talks. EU foreign policy chief was in Iran last week. In the same week the regime hanged at least 54 people including two women. It’s outrageous that the EU has remained silent on the human rights abuses in Iran as officials go there in the hopes of opening up new business ties.
