Gov. John Kasich proved it’s still all about him Friday, when he rejected the idea Friday that his Florida supporters should vote for Sen. Marco Rubio in Tuesday’s primary as part of a plan to stop Donald Trump’s momentum in the GOP presidential race:
If I got supporters somewhere in the country, and I am on the ballot, I think they kind of ought to go for me. The people can figure out what they need to do and how they want to vote. For me, I mean, what kind of a deal would it be if I told my people, “Don’t vote for me.”
It would be a good deal for anyone how wants to stop Trump. Rubio has urged his supporters to vote for Kasich in Tuesday’s winner-take-all Ohio primary in Ohio on Tuesday to help stop Trump from becoming the Republican party’s nominee. But Kasich will not return the favor.
There are 66 delegates on the line in Ohio and 99 on the line in Florida. It takes 1,237 delegates to win the nomination. Trump has 459, Cruz 360, Rubio 152 and Kasich only 54.
