Iowa Representative Steve King was on CNN earlier today and naturally the subject of Mike Flynn’s resignation came up.

Rep. Steve King is interested in investigating members from the intelligence community who leaked information that high level advisers close to then-presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign were in communication with Russian officials during the 2016 election.
“We have to find the people that are working against this administration and they need to be purged from this community,” the Iowa Republican told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day.”
“We need to find out who the leaking moles are who are violating federal law because we can’t function from a national security standpoint if we have that spillage coming out of the community,” he added.
King is right. If there is a real issue here for Congress to look at then it should be on how highly classified information is being managed and handled in an illegal manner. Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes is on board with an investigation of how the leaks came to be. Even Chuck Schumer recognizes the danger to our political system posed by an intelligence community that is operating to further its own goals.
“Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
“So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.”
I suspect, in the end, there will be bipartisan agreement that something needs to be done in that regard. Because, at the end of the day, Donald Trump aside, the members of Congress have much more in common with each other then they do with a rogue and rebellious intelligence community.
