"Assault Weapons" ... the term is so deceptive.

Ask yourself this: What “weapon” is not for the purpose of assault of some kind?

Hunting weapons assault deer, ducks, wild pigs, rabbits, quail, pheasants and so forth each season … but the hunters have ‘permits’ for THOSE assaults!

My axe assaults chunks of wood for my fireplace!

Any item that can be used to attack something or someone can be deemed an “assault weapon” … guns, knives, baseball bats, lumber, steak knives, rocks, bricks, fists, feet … anything can be a weapon.

The term rarely heard is “defensive weapon” … which could include any of the above used to defend oneself from any of the above used to assault you.

In the long run … the more ‘defensive weapons’ out there, the less effective the ‘assault weapons’ are likely to be. “Gun Free Zones” being a perfect example of the inverse.

Just ask any of the mass shooting victims who felt safe in a ‘gun free’ zone to corroborate that … oh wait, you can’t … they are dead because nobody had a defensive weapon that would have changed the outcome … so their testimony is mute now, after the fact.

What sort of idiot proposes that a law, regulation, policy or guideline stops criminals from being criminals? Or terrorists from being terrorists? Or psychopaths from being psychopaths?

Look no further than the newtork news for the answer … CNN, MSNBC and others are delighted to trot out politicians and supposed experts almost every day who will authoratatively state that laws, regulations, policies and guidelines will “solve” the problem! Ya right.

At a fundamental level: What politician or beaureacrat has the lawful or moral authority to legislate or regulate anyone into a state of victimhood? They are those who the US 2nd ammendment had in mind to make sure the people had a say in things that affected their personal safety.

I wasn’t born to be someone’s ‘chalk outline’ and the subject of a tidy, after-the-fact report … were you?
