UBI is crack. Very addictive, hard to refuse, and leads to certain poverty. It is the seductive road to communism.

However, instead of borrowing money from, and paying interest to the Federal Reserve, interest should be paid to the citizens. It is all citizens, both rich and poor, who are the defacto lenders. The wealth of the citizens is transferred to govt and diminished by inflation and taxes due to govt borrowing. The citizens should be repaid with interest, not the Federal Reserve. Even the poor who pay no income tax are hurt by inflation. Send everyone a check for interest and principle paid on the national debt, or at least make social security solvent. This may be a bad idea, but its better than enriching the Federal Reserve for the privilege of creating money out of thin air. Also all citizens should receive money in the form of a tax on fractional reserve banking. Fractional reserve banking creates inflation diminishing everyone’s wealth except those who are the immediate beneficiaries, and it creates a risk for the citizens who have to bail out failed banks. Citizens need to be compensated for exposure to risk and the diminished wealth and purchasing power due to inflation.

Imagine if all taxes paid were considered a loan to the govt and you were guaranteed regular interest payments from the govt. As you pay more and more taxes over your lifetime, you receive more and more interest every year from the govt even if you ultimately receive no principle. Eventually, as you near retirement, your interest payment from the govt would be enough to support you. A ponzi scheme? probably, but no more than the current scheme. Interest payments would become more burdensome, and printing money would increase inflation. But the principle would probably never be repaid, and inflation would diminish the value of the govt debt to the citizens.

UBI will likely be a selling point to usher in the new digital block-chain currency after economic collapse. It will be necessary to kick start the economy. A jobless population would otherwise have no purchasing power to support business or create jobs. It will seem like a miracle solution during a very dark time and lead directly to the mark of the beast system. UBI is now being talked about to condition people’s later acceptance of it.
