As Jan Brady Says, ‘Russia, Russia, Russia!’ Moscow Sends the Donald an Invite

“Your place or mine?”

On Friday, The White House announced that Donald Trump is “open” to taking a trip to that most desirable of all vacation destinations: Moscow.

Imagine! The Fun! The Sun! The world destruction!

The President is willing to consider visiting Vladimir Putin on his own Russian turf.

Sarah Huckabee laid it on us in a statement:

“He is open to visiting Moscow upon receiving a formal invitation.”

Whatever the case, having postponed Putin’s possible autumn visit to D.C., Trump is planning to see Russia’s Big Cheese sometime after the first of the year (as I covered here, where my sarcasm was misinterpreted…which I hope isn’t the case with this article).

In Helsinki, @POTUS agreed to ongoing working level dialogue between the two security council staffs. President Trump asked @Ambjohnbolton to invite President Putin to Washington in the fall and those discussions are already underway.

“Trump looks forward to having President Putin to Washington after the first of the year.”

All this came after Putin explained at the BRICs summit in Johannesburg Friday that a Russian invitation had already been floated to Donald J.:

“We are ready for such meetings, we are ready to invite President Trump to Moscow. He has this invitation already and I told him about it.”

Vladimir also confirmed that he is “ready to go to Washington.”

Trump rescinded the fall invite early this past week after it wasn’t immediately seized upon by Putin. The change also came after a pow-wow between the President, Paul Ryan, and Mitch McConnell.

According to National Security Advisor John Bolton, Trump’s next meet-up with Putin oughta happen next year after the Mueller investigation is over.

“The President believes that the next bilateral meeting with President Putin should take place after the Russia witch hunt is over, so we’ve agreed that it will be after the first of the year.”

Side note: the Russian probe will never, ever be over. As I asserted in the above-linked article, one day, the earth will be destroyed. And all that will be left are cockroaches, the Rolling Stones, and the Mueller investigation.
