Ivanka Trump Shutters Her Fashion Brand

Ivanka Trump’s apparel brand is closing up shop less than two years into her father’s presidency.

Despite stepping down from the brand she started in 2014, which was carried in higher-end stores like Nordstrom’s, Macy’s and Canada’s Hudson Bay Company before the 2016 election, the brand has systematically been dropped, reportedly due to poor sales. However, the brand has also been the target of #Resistence boycotts since Donald Trump won the presidency.

Ms. Trump said she’s unsure if she’ll return to retail fashion once her dad leaves the White House.

“After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington,” she said. “So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team of partners.”

Ms. Trump will reportedly address her 18 employees about the decision on Tuesday.

As a personal, amusing aside, despite not voting for Ivanka Trump’s father — nor her friend Chelsea Clinton’s mother for that matter — I wore an Ivanka Trump blouse the night of the 2016 election. Because the brand did actually have some really nice clothes and who lets politics stop them from dressing nice? (The answer to that is apparently enough).
