Army Troops Launch Final Push To Defeat ISIS In Southern Syria

Syrian Army enters last ISIS bastion in southwest Syria

Syrian forces managed to enter the last stronghold for the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Yarmouk Basin region following intense clashes with jihadists. While the battle-hardened Tiger stormed al-Shajarah town from the northern axis near Abdin town, the elite armies of the 4th Armored Division were capable of breaking ISIS defensives in the eastern sector near Ayn Ghazaleh. Prior the ground advance, the Syrian Army expelled ISIS militants from Tall Ishara hilltop and Jariyan town. The recent advance was propelled by heavy and non-stop shelling with heavy artillery, tanks and missiles, as well as precise aerial bombardment. War footage shows Golan heavy missiles as well as caged tanks bombing the group’s positions and fortifications inside al-Shajarah.
