Either Ilhan Omar Married Her Brother In 2009 Or This Is A MAJOR Coincidence

There has been much speculation over the identity of Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, the second husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Media outlets including the Associated Press and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune have tried to find evidence that Elmi is actually Omar’s brother which would indicate she had married him so he could remain in the US.

In the video below, Glenn Beck takes us through the timeline of Omar’s marital history. In 2002, she entered into a “faith” marriage to Ahmed Hirsi, which ended in a “faith” divorce in 2008. The couple had two children.

In 2009, Omar she entered into both a “faith” marriage and a legal marriage with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. In 2011, they had a “faith” divorce, but remained legally married.

In 2012, Omar and Hirsi reconciled and welcomed their third child. In 2017, Omar legally divorced Elmi, and the following year, she legally married Hirsi.

According to Glenn Beck, Omar, Hirsi, their three children and Elmi all used the same address for much of this period.

Far more significant than the fact that Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi during the years she was legally married to Elmi, is the question of Elmi’s identity.

An investigation into Omar’s alleged misuse of campaign funds first drew attention to this issue. She refused to address it and her office issued a statement which said the media was “fanning the flames of hate.”

The political editor of the Star-Tribune, Kevin Diaz, assigned several reporters to look into the situation. Diaz spoke to PolitiFact about their findings:

It turned out that most of the evidence behind (the notion that she had married her brother) was in social media. So we looked at the social media trail. It had been wiped clean, and that piqued our interest even more. But because the posts had been wiped, we had to rely on screen grabs that had been posted by people who we know have an ax to grind. So it was tricky.

To make a long story short, the reporters made no progress. They were blocked at every turn. They did find one item from 2016, when Omar was running for a state House seat. Diaz said:

The conservative website AlphaNewsMN posted a screenshot of an Instagram post — since deleted — that was allegedly uploaded by Elmi on June 12, 2012, shortly after Omar gave birth to her third child. The caption of the photograph identified Elmi as holding the baby girl, calling her “nieces.” To some, this suggested a sibling relationship.

On Monday, The Daily Caller discovered and published an Omar tweet from 2013. They observed the tweet and took a screenshot of it before Team Omar was able to delete it. The screenshot appears below.

Recall that Omar was legally married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi from 2009 until 2017. So this is either a major coincidence or the Congresswoman from Minnesota married her brother.
