With Animal Rights Close To His Heart, How Tiziano Motti Advocated For The Non-Humans

The earth is a beautiful planet, which has nourished and nurtured life forms for billions of years. Yet human beings tend to take this planet for granted, forgetting that it has been the home to plants and animals even before mankind came to existence. People have been cutting down forests and killing animals to the extent that the planet has almost become uninhabitable for non-humans. In the ethos of such cruelty towards other species, certain individuals and groups have stepped up to speak for those without a voice. One such person who has made a visible difference is ex-MEP and politician Tiziano Motti.

Dynamic and strong-willed Motti wanted to give back to society. He was elected as an independent candidate in the European Parliament back in 2009, and he took this opportunity to make a difference for those who needed his help the most. He wanted to make the world a safe place for children. Motti took various measures for improving the quality of life and transportation system for the disabled. He raised a storm to stop the cruel practices of testing cosmetic products on animals and vivisection. He actively campaigned for the cause, voted against animal testing, and fought for the safety of animals in public spaces.

“It is important to speak for those who cannot get their voices heard, be it minors, minorities, or animals. The world is for everyone, and we owe it to make it a safe place,”, states Tiziano Motti.

In 2013, Motti also questioned FederFauna’s inclusion in the Transparency Register against the ‘Hitler Award.’ The award prize comprised of a plaque displaying a picture of Adolf Hitler with two deers in front of Auschwitz concentration camp. The winner of the ‘Hitler Award’ for outstanding contribution to animal rights movement was to be chosen by the ‘victims of violence by animal rights activists.’ As per Motti, the award aimed at targeting animal activists and projected them as harbingers of violence against human beings.

Earlier in 2010, Motti had raised voice against incineration of dogs in Sardinia. He highlighted that ‘cruelty to, and the killing of, pets such as cats and dogs are punishable offences in Italy.’ Motti requested the Commission to delve if funding for the decent upkeep of the stray dogs could be provided under any European programmes.

As an MEP, Motti raised and stood by various issues in support of animal rights. The world needs more Samaritans like Tiziano Motti who use their power and position for the welfare of not just humankind but all living beings alike.
