As October 2021 winds to a close, state imposed deadlines for municipal workers to get their shot are looming. While different police, fireman and EMT departments are having to make serious decisions which impact their jobs as well as their pensions, the crime rates are continuing to rise to record highs. Healthcare workers are also facing job losses because their employers are mandating the shot.
When municipal workers refuse to take the jab, cities are not firing them but are putting each individual on unpaid leave. This action puts the employee in no income limbo. Also remember being fired from a job for breaking rules (vaccine mandate) or a worker resigning from their job (no jab for me) makes them ineligible for unemployment benefits.
