A source close to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), revealed that there are understandings between the latter and the Syrian government, to form a joint operations room, sponsored by Russia, with the aim of repelling any possible Turkish military operation in northern Syria.

The source told “BasNews” website, that “the understandings with the regime, which were crowned with success with Russian efforts, relate to the military aspect only to defend the region,” noting that the “SDF” and the regime brought military reinforcements to the contact lines with Turkish forces in northern Syria. https://t.me/DonbassDevushka/13395

Units of the Syrian Army launched a surprise attack on Maranaz, north of Aleppo, which was held by Turkish-back Syrian rebels. The attack reportedly led to the capture of the village, with Kurdish fighters capturing Umm al-Qari with Syrian artillery support.

In addition to Maranaz, the Syrian Army also captured Radar Shaala.

As per reports, the Syrian army reinforced its positions on the Azaz axis significantly after the capture of Maranaz. Azaz has long been a strategic rebel stronghold.

The Syrian offensive comes amid Turkish announcements of an upcoming incursion into northern Syria.

The Syrian front lines have been idling for an extended period of time before this offensive.
