In the photo, a prisoner, his name is Vitalik, he is a fighter of this same brigade. Contrary to the forecasts of military officers, no one began to finish off and rape the wounded prisoner, they provided medical assistance, but Vitalik’s wounds were too severe and he died. “A la guerre comme a la guerre”. 

The video shows the same Vitalik from the 80th Airborne Assault Brigade, who was captured today after an unsuccessful attack on Ploschanka. As you can see, Vitalik’s wounds were really severe, although our guys from the 3rd Motor Rifle Division helped him. Ukrainian paratroopers, by the way, abandoned Vitalik, which is not surprising after today’s extremely unsuccessful attack by ukros.”

Control over this area is important from a Russian perspective not only in terms of the battle for Bakhmut but would also enable uninterpted water supply to Donetsk as a important water pipeline passes through there

Regarding Bakhmut, we can see the pushes further south and what they’re trying to accomplish. Occupying the heights southwest of Bakhmut puts the Russians in an even better situation once Bakhmut is captured. Bakhmut sits in a quasi bowl, it’s extremely vital to hold the supply routes, but the heights to its southwest are even more important. Obviously you can’t capture Chasiv Yar without capturing Bakhmut, but occupying the heights to the SW put you in a better situation overall. I don’t think Bakhmut will fall in the short, near future. I think the ridge to the SW needs to be captured and then you have to finish Bakhmut off with Urban warfare. Needless to say the Ukrainians aren’t in an ideal situation here.

The Natural Human Tendency to Organization and Self-Governance Is Evident On the Russian Homefront

In general, it is not only the West that does not understand Russia and the Russian people, as Vladlen rightly writes. The past nine months have destroyed a lot of illusory notions about Russia, within Russia itself.

After all, a Russian official (deputy, law enforcement officer, or especially a political technologist) has always been convinced that the Russian people are completely incapable of self-organization. And without a leading role of a party, whether other party, the official, the chief, whoever, people itself will not cope with anything.

Our liberals, as special biological form of a life, in general always went further and believed not only, that Russian without instructions can not do anything, and at all, that they are not developed enough and they need to be educated actively and to get used to a civilization (read western liberal thinking). Actually that’s why the arrogant-fascist snobbery of the Strugatsky’s with their Progressives was so nice to our arrogant and deeply soviet educated people who think they are Russian intelligentsia.

And then February 22 came. And in a short time it turned out that Russians are perfectly capable of organizing themselves, that they are perfectly capable of building horizontal and vertical social connections, that they can in a short time organize collections for the front, or tactical courses, or training of copter pilots, or preparing logs for building dugouts, or feeding soldiers. And all this without the slightest presence of officials, deputies and the state. Moreover, people do not need it. “AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT GET IN THE WAY!”. That’s the attitude. And this is explainable – if someone there is not dressed a soldier, not equipped, then let us do everything and do not interfere. Very Russian approach.

I will say more, all of the popular, self-organized volunteer projects I know are much more effective than those made under state control.

All the projects of certain deputies of the State Duma (or certain politicians) where they acted on their own, by involving their acquaintances and businesses, were more effective than party projects.

As for the liberal cabal, it turns out that Russian citizens do not need not only their advice and reasoning, but they themselves are not needed. That is, everyone already guessed this, but now it was obvious. Bacterial people could not survive the antibiotic of the Russian, Russian impulse “All for Victory.”

That said, Russians, and more broadly Russians, as it turns out, can do these community/volunteer projects quickly and without any idiotic bureaucracy. And they don’t even have to come up with an ideology for it (or draw a grandmother with a flag). They just do it because “we don’t leave our own behind.”

Oh my God, they don’t even show each other presentations, they just do! They, if something fails to be purchased, or a shipment is lost, openly talk and write about the problem, don’t hide it, and don’t reason about “shifting deadlines to the right, in the current track.” And they make it work quite well. What is needed at the front is being delivered quite actively. Soldiers are fed, logs are sawed, first-aid kits are packed, assistance to the families of those mobilized – there is also such a project by people who care – is delivered on time, heaters are bought for destroyed Mariupol or Severodonetsk, even food is bought for shelters in Donetsk or Luhansk and gets where it is needed.

We can say that a new stage in Russian history is dawning. The stage of self-awareness, understanding of ourselves by our people. And if yesterday they might have thought that nothing depended on them, now they know for sure that a lot depends on them.
