Today, on February 24, Beijing published a 12-point position (http://in.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/zgxw/202302/t20230224_11030713.htm) on the political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. ▪️The first point concerns China’s respect for the sovereignty of all countries. The principle of territorial integrity should be respected, and double standards should be excluded from the practice of international relations.

Here you can notice a kind of reproach towards Russia, because many states use this very principle of international law as an argument against the starting of the SMO. However, in the PRC they could not write in any other way. Beijing always refers to the principle of territorial integrity when it comes to the Taiwan issue. By not writing such a thing, China would also damage relations with India, which have not been going through the best period lately.

▪️The second paragraph contains calls to discard the “cold War mentality” – a very popular phrase of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. It is often used in briefings when it comes to any actions of the United States and its allies directed against China.
 
The point concerns that security should not be achieved by expanding military blocs. Moreover, the security of a country should not be ensured at the expense of the security of other States. That is, China understands Russia’s position, and also opposes the expansion of NATO and adding fuel to the fire of the conflict. The statements in this paragraph also relate to India and Japan. Countries have recently been building up their military capabilities and preparing for a potential conflict in the region.

▪️The tenth point is completely directed towards the United States, or rather at the policy of imposing unilateral sanctions without a mandate from the UN Security Council. 🔻 What is the result?

China has turned out a certain treatise filled with Chinese wisdom. By the way, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang recently promised to share (https://t.me/awaken_dragon/1154) it. The document is written with notes of populism, without specifics and according to the principle “for all good, against all bad”. However, nothing else could be expected from the PRC.

▪️China’s main task now is to show that the country remains neutral and does not choose sides. And Beijing did it. After reading the document in full, you understand that the PRC does not stand on the side of Russia or on the side of Ukraine. The only thing Beijing stands for is an early end to the conflict and the start of negotiations.

The meaning of the publication of this document can also be attributed to an attempt to once again accuse the United States and its allies of the wrong approach to the conflict, which only worsens the situation. This is evidenced, for example, by calls for the rejection of unilateral sanctions that were not imposed by the UN Security Council, double standards and the expansion of military blocs.

▪️Here, again, there is a clear contrast between the positions of China and the United States – Beijing stands for negotiations and conflict resolution, and the United States heats up tensions with its actions.

This document is also a response to all the accusations of the European Union and the United States that China supports Russia not only politically, but also financially, by supplying weapons or other goods necessary for the front. According to the document, the PRC adheres to neutrality in the conflict, which means that all the accusations are false.

▪️Another possible reason for the publication is the desire to give political weight to the Global Security Initiative. Having outlined views on all key international issues, China seeks to challenge the Western-led system of governance. Although Beijing speaks from the point of view of neutrality in the conflict in Ukraine, this does not prevent it from taking its own, bolder position in the confrontation with the United States.

If we consider three Chinese concepts together, namely the Global security initiative, the conflict resolution plan in Ukraine, as well as the food security initiative, we can conclude that China may have outlined its vision of a post-war world. We should mention that with Yagodne in Russian hands, the remaining main supply road from Chasov Yar to Hromovo is now within easy Artillery range & even tank fire. Yagodne is in on higher elevation compared to the land where the road passes.

The Ukr can still get supplies via dirt tracks across the fields further South but it will be more difficult and the quantities will be reduced

Soledar direction situation as of 15.00 on February 24, 2023

At least 16 people suffered from the Ukrainian militants in Donetsk on February 23

💥 In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by Army Aviation and the artillery of the ‘Zapad’ Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of the enemy manpower and hardware near Dvurechnaya, Krakhmalnoye, and Tabayevka (Kharkov region).

◽️ Over 60 Ukrainian personnel, 2 armoured fighting vehicles, 4 motor vehicles, 1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, and 1 D-20 howitzer have been eliminated.

💥 In Krasny Liman direction, the active operations of the ‘Tsentr’ Group of Forces, supported by Ground-Attack and Army aviation, as well as the artillery fire, have resulted in the elimination of up to 140 Ukrainian personnel, 3 armoured fighting vehicles, 3 motor vehicles, 1 fighting vehicle equipped with Grad multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS), as well as the Msta-B, D-20, and D-30 howitzers near Novosadovoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Ploshchanka, Makeyevka, Chervonopopovka, and Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People’s Republic).

💥 In Donetsk direction, the units of the ‘Yug’ Group of Forces have launched a complex fire attack against the concentrations of enemy manpower and hardware along all the line of contact.

◽️ The enemy has lost up to 240 Ukrainian personnel, 2 tanks, 7 armoured fighting vehicles, 6 motor vehicles, the D-20 and D-30 howitzers, 1 D-44 anti-tank gun, as well as 1 U.S.-manufactured M-777 artillery system.

◽️ 1 command post and one ordnance depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been destroyed near Avdeyevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

💥 In South Donetsk direction, Operational-Tactical Aviation and the artillery of the ‘Vostok’ Group of Forces have launched a complex fire attack against the AFU units near Vodyanoye, Ugledar, and Prechistovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

◽️ Over 80 Ukrainian personnel, 1 tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, 3 pickups, 4 fighting vehicles equipped with Uragan MLRS, 1 D-20 howitzer, 1 U.S.-manufactured M-777 artillery system, 1 Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system, as well as 1 U.S.-manufactured AN/TPQ-36 counterbattery warfare radar have been eliminated.

◽️ 4 AFU ordnance depots have been destroyed near Razdolnoye, Bogatyr (Donetsk People’s Republic), and Malinovka (Zaporozhye region).

💥 In Kherson direction, the firepower operations have resulted in the elimination of over 40 Ukrainian personnel, 1 fighting vehicle equipped with Grad MLRS, 1 Msta-B howitzer, 3 D-30 howitzers, and the ordnance depot of 104th Artillery Brigade of the AFU near Vysshetarasovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).

💥 Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 102 AFU artillery units at their firing positions, as well as the manpower and hardware in 142 areas.

◽️ The command post of 127th Territorial Defence Brigade has been neutralised near Peremoga (Kharkov region).

💥 Air defence facilities have shot down 4 rocket-propelled projectiles, launched by HIMARS and Uragan MLRS, and 6 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles near Merefa, Liman Vtoroy (Kharkov region), Aleksandrovka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Golaya Pristan, and Novaya Zburyevka (Kherson region).

⚔️ Situation on the Fronts for the past Day

🔹#Svatovo – #Kremennaya Direction:

▪️ There were no serious changes during the day. Mutual shelling continues. Also, the AFU is fortifying on the right bank of #Oskol, expecting an offensive by the Russian army.

🔹#Artyomovsk (#Bakhmut) Direction:

➖ Wagner PMC fighters continue to storm #Yagodnoye, most of the settlement is under our control.
➖ There is also information about the success of the “orchestrators” in the Dubovo-Vasilyevka area, where the militants are finding it difficult to hold back ours.
➖ In #Artyomovsk, positional battles continue, our forces have entrenched on the eastern outskirts of the city in Zabakhmutovka, and in the southwest they have entered the dacha areas.
➖ Furthermore, the “bandwagon” has resumed its offensive on #Krasnoye, with fighting on the outskirts of the village.

🔹#Ugledar Section:
