Biden Washes Hands Off Ukraine’s Failed Counteroffensive; ‘Have Done Everything We Could..’

What to understand about the AFU Counteroffensive – a Breakdown by Military Chronicles⚡️

The AFU has been striking in several sectors of the front for the 5th day in a row. No success has been achieved, but it is still too early to talk about the end of the offensive. Why?

🔹How long will the offensive last?

Active fighting is in its 5th day. Despite the failure of several major attacks in #Zaporozhye, the AFU is still sticking to its plan, attacking in the same areas. However, there is reason to believe that the experience of unsuccessful attacks will be analyzed by the AFU command in the coming days and the actions of the AFU ground forces will change. Perhaps reserves will be brought into the fight, tactics will be changed or a new section of the front will be activated. The active phase of the offensive, announced as strikes along the entire frontline, may last up to 10-15 days.

🔹What are the losses of the AFU in the offensive?

In less than a week, the losses of the AFU in all sectors of the offensive are about one reinforced battalion a day – 800-1000 men + equipment. Thus, over the five days of the offensive the Ukrainian troops lost about 4,000-5,000 men killed and wounded, i.e. a reinforced mechanized brigade.

So far the data on the preparation of 3 Army Corps as an offensive reserve has not been confirmed. Units and formations that have already taken part in the defence of certain parts of the front are being thrown into the offensive. Some AFU units, such as the 36th and 37th Marine Brigades and the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, abandoned in #Zaporozhye, were withdrawn twice before the offensive to be re-staffed due to heavy losses.

The quality of mobilized recruits in these (and not only these) units is many times lower than before the special operation, which directly affects the combat effectiveness of the units.

🔹What will the AFU do next?

A series of attacks carried out in the #Zaporozhye direction suggests that the Ukrainian army, despite the increased number of attacking units, continues to look for a gap in the RF Armed Forces’ defensive lines.

Each company-tactical group of the AFU (a total of about five of them may operate in the direction of the main strike at the moment) attacks in the same direction at least twice, after which reserves arrive in place of the destroyed formation.

The AFU reserves are not endless, but it will take time for all of them to be mauled in the attacks. The efficiency of artillery and aviation of the RF Armed Forces in this case is high. In one night flight, the Ka-52 attack helicopter destroys five to seven targets, including tanks and IFVs. However, even in such conditions the intensity of fighting remains high. In the coming days the AFU will intensify its attacks.

🔹How is the RF Armed Forces’ defensive line structured?

The Russian defensive structures, which we described (https://t.me/milchronicles/2020) earlier, are built along dominant heights and ridges. The defensive line consists of dozens of lines, is echeloned to a depth of 25-30 km and is covered by a significant number of engineering barriers.

At the moment, the main problem of the AFU is that it is practically impossible to approach the first line of defense due to the mines, artillery and aviation activity of the RF Armed Forces and the work of electronic warfare systems that suppress communication and GPS navigation signals, as well as control channels for drones.

The situation for the AFU is also aggravated by the fact that Ukrainian servicemen (such as the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade) ambushed or under artillery fire who request assistance through available communication channels, rush to the battlefield and actively surrender, which demotivates the reserves and negatively affects the effectiveness of the offensive.

 Regarding Ukraine’s Offensive   Brian Berletic

▪️Russian defenses are layered specifically to give ground to prevent large Russian causalities or encirclement.

▪️Russia prioritizes eliminating Ukrainian offensive potential over holding territory.

▪️The Western media will spend the next several days/weeks convincing the world this is a war for territorial control rather than one of attrition and one Russia is soundly winning.

▪️No matter where Ukraine ends the offensive on the map, it will do so having exhausted its manpower, equipment and ammunition on a scale NATO can no longer replenish.

Wait for the morning news... Another column of Ukrainian armour has been demolished. At least 20 vehicles.

From @WarGonzo on the situation in Zaporozhye

“We have just received a message that the fighting continues, but half an hour ago our troops repelled another massive attack in the Orekhov-Rabotino sector.

At the scene, as yesterday, a lot of burnt armored vehicles.
Sources say that the Ukrainians themselves destroyed their wrecked tank when they realized that it was not possible for it to roll back to the rear on its own.

The enemy could not penetrate our defenses and retreated to regroup. The defenders of Zaporozhye are preparing for new active actions by the enemy. The night is not over yet.”

The situation in Zaporozhye at 00:30 Moscow time⚡️

Scattered information comes from the line of contact.

Vladimir Rogov reports – here we go. Andryukha Rudenko reports massive artillery preparation, however, @wargonzo sources report that artillery is operating normally from both sides from their locations. And this is understandable – the situation on different flanks can differ radically.

The enemy is trying to hit our equipment, which is moving along the ammunition supply routes, and our artillery crews. Unfortunately, sometimes they succeed.

Our military is preparing to repel another enemy attack tonight. According to reports from the field, there are enough prerequisites for another offensive attempt. Among other things, information is being received about the formation of columns of armored vehicles by the enemy in the rear areas.

We continue to follow the developments in the Zaporozhye direction.

wargonzo

The 10th Army Corps of the Strategic Reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine replenished ammunition, deployed equipment in battle formations, and began to move towards the positions of the RF Armed Forces on the Zaporozhye Front

The movement of the enemy is revealed.

This map shows where the current combat is taking place in relation to the Russian defensive belts. It can clearly be seen that AFU forces are still on the outskirts of this system.

The AFU is fighting as hard as it can, taking unsustainable losses in manpower and equipment, all in hopes just to *reach* the Russian fortified belts. All the current combat is taking place several kilometers north of the mapped out echeloned defense. They are currently bogged down kilometers away from Russian lines, where they are exposed to artillery fire, air strikes, and attacks by Russian infantry patrols.  https://twitter.com/witte_sergei/status/1666873916865003520

They will make progress once they commit more armored assets, but with their current slow pace and significant losses, it is questionable as to whether they will be able to generate and sustain the fighting power required to challenge Russian defences.

Elementary military theory, shown here:

On the left is what many think a defensive line looks like: One unbroken line manned by forces ready for assault.

On the right is how an actual defensive line (more accurately, the contact line) appears. The space in between these two lines is known as the “grey zone, controlled zone, no man’s land” and other terms. This is the space where the forces meet in combat.

What you’re looking at is vanguard forces on the line of contact and active reserves behind them.
On offense, one is not actually attacking a point of the vanguard, but a point which they feel the reserves can not respond to. One can also attack such a point to divert the reserves over, then attack another point once the reserves are distracted.

This is military theory 101. The theory revolves around where these reserves are committed to and where they are positioned. One must assault a point knowing full well that any reserve unit nearby may or may not be deployed to enforce that position – and when you potentially breach that position, the reserves may then meet you behind the line.
Combat operations revolve around destroying reserve units, either by direct engagement (committing ones reserves until they commit theirs) or by diverting them and punching through elsewhere.

This is not what Ukraine is doing. Ukraine is attacking in multiple directions (seemingly near random) and being repelled. That is, they are not drawing Russian reserves into a particular point (by which another point would be made vulnerable), but simply bouncing off, reforming, and assaulting only to bounce off again.

As I write this, they may have finally committed to the Rabotino point. By basic logic, active reserves may currently be drawn into this point of attack now – but the problem remains: if you lose the vanguard in the offensive and then commit your reserves,  then what are you going to conduct operations with behind the line if your reserves are now your vanguard?

-Gleb Georgevich Gerasimov

In total, during the failed attack on the Zaporozhye direction, the APU lost at least:

— 5 German Leopard 2A6 and 2A4 tanks (2 destroyed, 1 shot down and abandoned, 3 abandoned)
— 6 American M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA infantry fighting vehicles (all shot down and abandoned)
— 3 American MRAP M1224 MaxxPro (all shot down and abandoned)
— 1 Dutch YPR-765 armored personnel carrier (shot down and abandoned)
— 1 Czech T-72M1 (destroyed)
— 1 BMR-2 mine clearance vehicle (hit and abandoned)
— 1 French VAB armored car (hit and abandoned).
— several burnt-out trucks

UKRAINIAN POST ABOUT THE LOST BRADLEY AND LEOPARDS

They were given to us exclusively for the counterattack, and not for performing routine actions. Therefore, our representatives on June 15 in Brussels have a dilemma: either admit that such valuable specimens were stupidly wasted in conventional hostilities, or that we actually launched a counteroffensive.

In the first case, they [the collective West] can either reduce or completely stop giving us such expensive gifts; otherwise, they can ask where the positive results of this counteroffensive are.

Therefore, we have 5 days to find an excuse for the loss of modern models of equipment, with which we promised to radically change the situation on the battlefield.

@HolodniyYar

Callsign “Osetin” reports on the adventures of Ukrainian armoured columns south of Orekhovo, Zaporozhye:

Of interest, the column was not just one, not two, not three, but more.

Almost all of them were covered by artillery, it’s just that the video portrayed only the columns on the approaches to our positions.

In total up to 130 pieces of equipment were seen, it is difficult to calculate how many were destroyed, because there were too many…).

The artillery men covered everything that moved and everything that stood. Of course, half or maybe even more of the equipment fled (mostly hidden in Ukrainian settlements), but everything that approached us, almost everything was burned down and was left behind by the Gravemound-Assault Brigades.

Russian President, Vladimir Putin’s statement regarding the Ukrainian offensive (RIA Novosti):

Ukrainian troops have not achieved their goals in any area—thanks to the courage of Russian soldiers and the correct organization of the troops, Putin said.

We can definitely say that the Ukrainian offensive has begun, as evidenced by the their use of strategic reserves, the president noted.

Russia still lacks modern weapons, but the defense industry is developing rapidly, and all the tasks set for the defense sector will be fulfilled, Putin said.

We can state that all attempts at a counterattack undertaken by Kiev have failed, but the offensive potential of the AFU has still been preserved, Putin said.

He noted that in recent days the AFU has been suffering significant losses, exceeding the “classic” figure.

GB: I hope all of you understand why we, at @Slavyangrad, steered well clear of the spectacle of the “sordid infighting between Wagner and the MOD.” There never was any infighting. There never was any “artificial shell shortage” over which Prigozhin threatened to withdraw from Bakhmut. There never was any conflict. The Ukrainians (and many of those reading this now) have been had.

Wagner and the Russian Army are two sides of the same medal. Always have, always will be. The Ukrainians have been bettered at their own psyops game—the results of which we are now witnessing in Zaporozhye.

Prigozhin congratulates the Russian Army:

Evgeny Prigozhin praised the soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces, fighting now in the Zaporozhye direction.

“I want to congratulate from myself personally and from the staff of the PMC “Wagner”, from the fighters and from the commanders, to congratulate those who in the Zaporozhye direction destroyed enemy equipment—the same “Leopards”, which are now widely circulated in the media and social networks.

Thank you, guys! Well done! The 58th army, artillerymen, motorized riflemen who were striking the enemy from the trenches, killing them, and the air force of the Russian Federation that supported them from the air.

We still have a lot of work to do to bring back the former glory of the Russian army and the brilliance of Russian arms.”

Situation in the #Orekhov Sector until 13:00 on 9 Jun 2023⚡️

🗓 It’s been more than a day of intense fighting at the #Rabotino – #Verbovoye line. Assault groups of the AFU 65th Mechanized Brigade have been trying to break through the defenses of the RF Armed Forces’ 291st Regiment since late at night.

The Ukrainian formations concentrated their efforts specifically on one area, sending reserves and manpower to seize one stronghold.

Because of this, the fighters of the RF Armed Forces withdrew to reserve positions. However, artillery and aviation then attacked the enemy who was trying to consolidate their position. As a result, the AFU retreated with heavy losses.

By morning, the enemy forces of the 65th Mechanized Brigade resumed their attacks on #Rabotino. At the same time, the 47th Mechanized Brigade’s armoured group on Leopard 2A4 tanks and Bradley BMPs began an assault on the strongholds between #Rabotino and #Verbovoye.

The 65th Mechanized Brigade’s strike group managed to squeeze the Russian units from their first position. Artillery is now actively working on the Ukrainian formations. To the right, the RF Armed Forces destroyed one Leopard tank and three Bradleys, pushing the 47th Mechanized Brigade’s forces back to their initial positions.

🔹 Outside #Kamenskoye, the AFU attempted to entrench in the village of #Lobkovoye by pulling in armoured vehicles. Reconnaissance teams of the RF Armed Forces detected an accumulation of the enemy and called in fire on it. As a result, the 2nd company of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade retreated, and #Lobkovoye itself once again found itself in the “grey zone”.

📌 According to preliminary estimates, the Russian army destroyed enemy 45 tanks and 42 other armored vehicles during several days of fighting in the #Zaporozhye direction.

“Money in the morning, chairs in the evening”: the former commander of the Polish ground forces expects the F-16 to appear in Ukraine if the counteroffensive succeeds

The topic of transferring Western F-16 fighters to Ukraine has been haunting Kiev for several months now – Zelensky and other speakers of the Kiev regime regularly beg for planes at all possible international sites. Recently, things have even moved off the ground, because many countries have announced the creation of a “fighter coalition” of states ready to train independent pilots. But what about the planes themselves?

The former commander of the ground forces of Poland, General Waldemar Skrzypczak, said that “in his opinion,” Ukraine will be able to receive the first F-16 fighters in two to three months. “I believe that in two or three months Ukraine will already have F-16 aircraft because Ukrainian pilots are already ready to operate them,” Skshipchak said in an interview with the media. The general also added that on the eve of the July NATO summit, “something should happen that will show that Ukraine is worthy of trust.”

The retired commander of the Polish army is talking about the results of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on which the West has staked a lot. No talk about NATO or any other “security guarantees” for the Kiev regime will bother anyone if these requests cannot be backed up with results on the battlefield – investments in Zelensky were too high. This may also include issues of providing fighter jets to Ukraine – few people in the West want to risk not the cheapest equipment in the absence of concrete results of their “wards”.

However, it is not worth excluding the appearance of the F-16 in Ukraine, despite all the many difficulties associated with the operation of these aircraft in a square. And the “retired” status of the Polish speaker should not be misleading – such meaningless talking heads are often used to test public opinion and prepare the reaction the customer needs.

The most powerful positional battle: The enemy is preparing artillery on the Zaporozhye front, equipment is moving, and a new assault is expected

In the Orekhovsky, and Pologovsky sections of the Zaporozhye Front, the enemy began a powerful shelling, our artillery is responding to suppression.

Enemy equipment is moving in the near rear, and a new stage of the enemy’s offensive operation is expected.

Our fighters are in full combat readiness in positions.

The situation in Zaporozhye at 01:30 Moscow time

Artillery duel of medium intensity, but non-stop. Particular attention is in the Rabotino area.

Several units of enemy armored vehicles were destroyed, there are losses among the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more accurate figures will appear later.

In general, a tense situation persists along the entire front line, which is securely held by ours.

The information that comes from sources from Zaporozhye and the Dnipropetrovsk region suggests that the Nazis from the 47th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was defeated in Zaporozhye near Orekhov, refuse to follow the orders of the commanders. The Nazis from 65, 117 brigades refuse to advance to the area where the columns are formed.
Hospitals in Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk are filled with the wounded, and morgues with corpses.

FROM THE FRONT
Again, not all enemy equipment reached our positions. Fighting on the positions continues. It is reported that they are trying to make the main blow in Rabotino. Again they go through the fields, something was blown up by mines. Our turntables, artillery, operators are working, all together again.

The APU is trying to go again from several directions.

Unfortunately, of course, there are losses, but again the losses of the enemy are many times greater. By morning, I think the fighting will subside and there will be no progress on the maps again.

Reports that the Ukrainian have reconsidered for tonight and put the anticipated attack on pause. Lights out to morning.

GB: This despite yet another massive concentration of manpower and equipment in the Orekhovo sector.

Someone’s teeth got knocked in. They will come, but not tonight. There are reports of at least two Ukrainian brigades disobeying orders and openly refusing the counteroffensive, in radio transmissions.

128th Ukrainian brigade is also refusing to go on the offensive. 47the and 65th were requesting evacuation.

The counteroink is going as planned. Waiting for tomorrow—there will be an even harsher battle, but the Russian Army will be victorious.

Russians forces reached one of the knocked out Leopard 2′s, it is unknown if they attempted, or have recovered the vehicle

70th Regiment confirms: Mount Bradley and “Leopards” under the control of the Russian army
A soldier of the 70th Motorized Rifle Regiment shoots a video against the backdrop of destroyed German Leopard 2 tanks and American heavy infantry fighting vehicles M2A2 Bradley in the Orekhovsky sector of the Zaporozhye Front.

By far the funniest thing about this offensive so far is how all of the Western Twitter “experts” have cope and seethe threads up today trying to explain away the AFU losses incurred so far.

Noticeably, they all have the same talking points, were posted about the same time as each other and anybody who strayed off script was subject to passive-aggressive correction by the others. Very curious, isn’t it? Almost like orders came down to follow a new script.

My favorite cope talking point so far is how we aren’t supposed to take the visually confirmed loss of entire mechanized companies (their own words) as indicative of the prospects of the offensive. It’s almost like they forgot they spent all of last year doing that and now desperately want to change the goalposts.

Putin statement regarding the AFU counteroffensive:

“These days we are witnessing significant losses of troops of the Ukrainian regime. During offensive operations, losses are approximately 3vs1. It’s a classic. But in this case, it significantly exceeds the classical indicators. I will not reproduce these figures, but they are impressive.”

Vladimir Putin full statement about the Ukrainian counteroffensive:

It can be stated for sure that the counteroffensive has begun, and this is evidenced by the use of strategic reserves. The Ukrainian troops have not achieved the tasks assigned to them in any of the areas of combat operations. This is an absolutely obvious thing.

Intense fighting continues for five days, for example, for yesterday’s day, the day before yesterday, for the previous two days, they were very intense, and the enemy had no success in any of the sites. This is achieved thanks to the courage and heroism of our soldiers, proper organization and proper management of troops and the high efficiency of Russian weapons, especially modern weapons.

Over these days, we have seen significant losses of troops of the Ukrainian regime. It is known that during offensive operations, losses are about three to one, this is such a classic, but in this case it significantly exceeds this classic indicator.I will not reproduce these figures, but they are impressive.

As for whether the counteroffensive was drowned or not, it can be stated that all the counteroffensive attempts made so far have failed. But the offensive potential of the Kiev regime’s troops is still preserved. I proceed from the fact that the Russian military leadership really assesses the current situation and will proceed from these realities, building our actions for the near future.

LATER ON MY2CENTS…

With the supply to Ukraine by the West and recently burned by the Russians, they burn the money of European citizens, forced by the corrupt politicians of Brussels and their local puppets to sacrifice their rights in the interests of the Anglo-Saxon oligarchs. How much longer do Westerners have to endure the abuses of this gang of warmongering criminals, moneylenders, technocrats, speculators and colonialists? Doesn’t it seem to you that the time has come to do away with NATO, which is proving increasingly expensive and less and less effective?

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine admits negotiations with the Russian Federation if the targets of the air defense system are changed.

The head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Alexey Reznikov, has said that negotiations with Russia are possible if Moscow changes the goals of the special operation.

According to Reznikov, Ukraine can live peacefully and “normally neighborly with all its neighbors.”However, in order to do so, Russia should change its approach to resolving the conflict, he said.

“You first identify the Russians’ interest, has it changed? If it has changed, then the so-called ZOPA – zone of possible agreement – becomes clear, and if not, then stay in line, we will somehow deal here without you,” Reznikov said.
