Mike Freer is a British MP (Member of Parliament) in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Conservative Party and also happens to be gay. Why is that relevant? Those last two factors have apparently made him a target of Islamic fundamentalists in Britain, and threats to his safety as well as actual attacks on other MPs from Islamists have resulted in his decision to step down.
