Senior Democrats, including some of President Biden’s aides, are increasingly skeptical about his electoral strategy for November, which hinges on voter concerns surrounding Jan. 6, political unrest, democratic integrity, and Donald Trump’s character. To add insult to injury however a new Rasmussen poll just came out the paints ZERO path to victory for Biden in one of the most resounding estimated losses and candidate has suffered since Mondale lost to Ronald Reagan.

The core inner circle of Biden’s advisors remains steadfast in this approach, championed by Biden and his longtime aide, Mike Donilon. However, this viewpoint isolates them within much of the party, where polls consistently show Biden either tied with or trailing opponents, despite a brief uptick following Trump’s conviction. So back to that Rasmussen poll and the landslide victory it predicts for Trump.

Not since Reagan vs Mondale have we seen such devastating numbers.

Several polls indicate that while voters are indeed concerned about democracy, their primary worries revolve around inflation and the economy. Moreover, Biden’s support among crucial Democratic constituencies—Blacks, Latinos, young adults, and union members—has been slipping, although the message about democracy resonates strongly with older voters.

Ron Klain, Biden’s former chief of staff and a longtime associate of Donilon, expressed confidence in Donilon’s approach, stating, “In Mike I trust.” That however appears to be yet another echo chamber decision and Axios takes full aim and fires back in their article titled, “Top Dems: Biden has losing strategy“.

However, there is growing unease among some Democratic strategists observing from outside the inner circle. One remarked to Axios, “It is unclear whether the president and his core team grasp the gravity of the current situation or even have a plan to address it. That is concerning.”

Sources close to the president revealed concerns about dissenting opinions being stifled within Biden’s loyal cadre of aides, known for their tight-knit loyalty to the president.

Despite these concerns, Donilon, a seasoned Democratic operative, remains optimistic in private conversations, assuring others that voters will make the right choice by supporting democracy and rejecting Trump in November. He frequently asserts, “Joe Biden is a great president, and great presidents get re-elected.”

With new rumors now swirling about his ‘freeze ups’ appearing comparable to signs of Parkinson’s, his disappearance from virtually any speaking engagements, and a debate that can spell the end of the campaign with one senior moment caught on tape it appears Biden, Donilon and Klain but need to take one huge heaping spoonful of a reality check.

Responding to inquiries, Biden’s advisors emphasized, “Those speculating have not heard from Mike or any of the team about the president’s comprehensive case for re-election.”

Donilon elaborated on his perspective earlier this year, drawing parallels between the significance of Jan. 6 and 9/11 in shaping electoral outcomes. He remarked to The New Yorker, “The Democratic Party didn’t want to believe it was a 9/11 election… I would never be part of a presidential campaign that didn’t figure out—with clarity—what it wanted to say and stick to it.”

Looking ahead to Election Day, Donilon predicts a heightened focus on democracy, envisioning January 6th as a pivotal image in voters’ minds.

Biden’s inner circle operates cohesively yet insularly, jokingly referring to an unofficial “no new friends rule.” This group includes influential figures like First Lady Jill Biden’s aide Anthony Bernal and Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini, known for their unwavering loyalty since 2008.

Despite a substantial early start and significant spending advantages, Biden’s campaign has struggled to significantly improve his polling numbers against Trump.

Howard Wolfson, a longtime Democratic strategist, cautioned, “If the election were today, we would lose.” He underscored the high stakes of upcoming debates and reiterated the campaign’s focus on voter engagement and strategy.

In summary, while morale and management within Biden’s campaign have seen improvements, concerns persist among many Democrats about the overarching narrative and strategic decisions guiding the campaign, particularly as they reflect on past successes and failures.
