Tucker Carlton Breaks With GOP, Plans to Form a New Political Party (Video)

Tucker Carlson has announced plans to help build a new third political party following a sharp public break with President Donald Trump and the Republican Party over the war in Iran.
In an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review, Carlson stated, “There’s going to be a third party, and I’m going to do everything I can to bring that about”. Carlson has explicitly stated he does not want to run for office himself. He clarified, “I don’t want to be a candidate,” and noted he views his role strictly as helping to build the party infrastructure. Carlson severed his 35-year alignment with the GOP over U.S. foreign policy. He heavily criticized President Trump’s military strikes and the ensuing war in Iran, arguing it violates “America First” principles. He claims the Democratic and Republican parties are in “lockstep solidarity” on major issues like war and finance. He called the current system “a one-party state posing as a democracy”. While concrete details remain vague, Carlson indicated the party would emphasize domestic welfare over foreign intervention and explicitly voiced support for “ending all immigration”.
Carlson is not the only high-profile conservative figure pushing away from the GOP due to dissatisfaction with the current administration’s foreign policy. Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Congresswoman, also announced she is in “serious conversations” to launch a separate, “true America-focused” third party after renouncing her support for the GOP. Elon Musk similarly threatened to create an ‘America Party’ during an earlier split with Trump, though he later walked back those plans.
Carlson has not yet announced an official name, timeline, or ballot-access strategy for his planned third party.
